For centuries, Wraith inhabited a section of deep forest, haunting the area and protecting the wildlife from any harm that may have come to it. Tied spiritually to one certain deer skull, Wraith was unable to leave the area as long as that skull remained. The skull was protected by a spell to keep it from decomposing, set up by the lifebringer that had carved Wraith into existence (his purpose, of course, being to protect the forest). This meant that as long as the skull remained in place, since it could not break down over time, he was forced to stay in the forest, which was fine. Wraith didn't want to leave. This was his life's purpose, after all. He/They/It pronouns.

A lawful evil type, Wraith was willing to do (almost) whatever it took to keep the harmony of his home. That is, until another daiten named Oliver showed up one day and took the deer skull with the intent to bring it home and clean it. Enraged by the daiten's audacity to disturb the skull, Wraith appeared before Oliver and attempted to scare them into putting it back. For some reason, Oliver was not intimidated by the whole thing, rather quite excited. Since Wraith was incapable of actually harming any living thing, he switched tactics. He explained his story, that he was bound to the skull and was meant to protect the forest as he had for centuries, and please would you just put it back? But Oliver paused. Centuries? In just this forest? Surely that meant that Wraith had not seen the world in all of its glory! All of the biomes, the animals, the fauna! And so much time had passed, things existed now that Wraith could never imagine!

Wraith was unsure, but admittedly the mention of a whole world that he had never seen before intruiged him. And there had not been an actual threat to the woods in... a very long time, and Wraith was getting bored. Tentatively, he agreed, but not without promising to curse Oliver for all of eternity if anything happened to the forest. They were okay with those terms.

Once they had gotten home, Oliver pried a tooth from the skull and placed it into a pendant, performing a small binding spell to refocus the source (something much easier to do when there is already a base spell present. Oliver wouldn't be able to perform such a spell without a starting point with their current skill level). Unfortunately, Wraith doesn't have an actual corporeal form, so Oliver has to wear the pendant, thus tying his form to Oliver's person. Wraith pretends to mind, but he doesn't actually. He's never had company before, and there's something about this daiten that Wraith enjoys.
