Jonah is an overall good guy with a clean-slated personality and a loving background/family. He is altruistic and has the patience of a saint. His love for people extends to Umi, their family, and even random babies he finds *coughs*.

Rx-Control

Umi was directly sought out by God Scientist and Angel for their abilites. In order to get Umi on their side, they chose to kidnap Jonah after he suffered a fatal accident from a bus crash. Frazzled from the stress, coma and blood loss, Jonah goes mad with paranoia; using himself as a human meatshield to protect a random baby (Celeste) who he believed was going to become a test experiment. He was half correct. And he technically succeeds.
