About Birthday - July 21st
With wings of beryl and eyes like fire, Uphaz does his best to make his unsettling appearance more appealing to mortals, should they ever see him. He looks out with sleepy eyes and dons a soft fluffy robe to help conceal his gaunt appearance. But don't let his comfy clothes fool you, Uphaz is extremely nimble. Due to this, they are always charged with watching over the young humans. Their tail and wings acting as counterbalance as they hop from perch to perch or burrow into whatever secluded secret hidey hole their charge decides to get into next.
Uphaz takes his job as guardian angel seriously, despite what his calm demeanor may make you believe. He's very motherly to those he's protecting but that sharp pain that occasionally runs through your shoulder or wrist is likely Uphaz giving you a light whack with his cane to prevent you from harming yourself any further.
During the times he returns to heaven, he usually catches up with Punchez. Despite being similar in age, Uphaz treats Punchez like a son and enjoys doting on him like he would any of his human charges.

Uphaz is loosely based on (and named after) the verse (Daniel 10:5-6)
"I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude."
I wanted to add more to his design based on this passage, like the bronze limbs, but his robe covered too much of his body for the combination of beryl and bronze to read well. His design is also inspired by the Pileated Snagret from Pikmin 2 (2004), Monopods the Greek mythological creature, and as well as the Kasa-obake (umbrella yōkai) of Japanese folklore. The latter two of which share similarities in that they have little to no significance other than to appear as characters in made-up stories. Which I found humorous in comparison to most other mythological stories or yokai folklore, which usually have some sort of message to pass on to the listener.
