COMET

introduction.

A superluminal racer with an incurable case of cosmic illness, Comet is better known for her persona on the circuit, the unwavering, steely-eyed pilot of her craft, The Morning Star. She is typically found within the Top Ten, though she has netted a couple wins in her time on the track. The four-pointed star on her chest serves as the crux of a 'black hole' threatening to cleave her in four one day- An unfortunate outcome from a volatile warp on the circuit in its pre-regulatory era.

Fragments of herself are lost to the galaxy every time she takes to the circuit. One day, she'll be gone entirely.

BOATS & BIRDS - GREGORY AND THE HAWK

personality. Clear-Headed / Modest / Melancholic

The Comet of now and then are vastly different creatures, with her superluminal incident exposing her to something so beautiful, it shouldn't make sense. A once loving though mousy Comet found herself stripped of what made life worthwhile, the simple ability to feel. Comet had witnessed the birth of a star in that split second during her ill-fated warp, something grandiose enough to scramble her baseline joy to something now unattainable.

Comet hasn't forgotten how to it felt to feel, intimately reminded of it in passing memories that continue to dull with time. If anything, she tries hard to make sure the people around her know that she loves them dearly, and cares for them more than ever. It cumulates in treading old footprints, remembering what they once enjoyed, together or not.

Her kayfabe persona is something her management tried to sell from the get-go, with her circuit incident ridding her of that final bashful sliver of character that sometimes broke immersion. Comet is never as cruel or domineering as her racing persona sets her up to be.

trivia.

  • Comet’s accident was publicised, but never elaborated upon in the press. She has a difficult time explaining exactly what she saw in the midst of the accident, always relaying a different story every time— And she doesn’t seem to be lying. She appears to be in a genuine state of confusion.
  • Comet is inexplicably drawn to the stars. There are nights where she feels the need to simply walk out and watch them, unblinking— Something is there, a piece of her.
  • She displays a bit of distaste for her persona on air sometimes, much to the chagrin of her management. She finds it cringe-worthy and downright abhorrent somedays, taking solace in Brock and Ganymede later.
    • She is deeply fond of the two, as she is with many of her companions. Comet was initially instructed to be friendly with them for marketing reasons, though it extended beyond that. She would quite literally die for them.
  • Her jaw can completely unhinge, and she has tusks. Comet is omnivorous but does lean into carnivorous tendencies.
  • Comet is driven by instincts that can only be described as 'aggressive' at times, even if she doesn't mean to be. It's hardwired into her biology, like a tumultous cichlid, and has broken one or more noses in her time. Sorry, Ganymede.

design notes.

  • Comet stands at about 5'9" or more, depending on if she is wearing heels, which is often. She also races in them, and has figured out how.
  • Comet has a missing arm from birth, her left one! The right, she lost in an accident and was amputated below the wrist. She wears sponsored prosthetics for both. They are clawed, for intimidation.
  • The four-point star is a common motif in her marketing as with her outfits and suits. Her racing suit is made of a glossy PVC.
  • In the later races in the season, she dons a huge naval coat, complete with epaulettes. They sweep near her ankles and make her look gargantuan.
    • She is sometimes seen wielding a three-pronged trident. It has been filed down for safety reasons. It's mostly ornamental.
