Slipperpaw

Slipperpaw’s always been one to hide in the shadows of their parents and loved ones. They hate the spotlight, and especially hate when they feel like they’re being watched or observed. As such they try to appear as uninteresting and unobservable as possible. They do not talk much, save for their family, and will absolutely run away from cats if they do not know them. However, beneath that shy exterior is an incredibly creative mind. They found some berries about a moon or so ago, mashed them up, and began to use the mashed fruits to paint on rocks and branches. Those are truly the only things they’ll ever ask for: berries, rocks, and branches. What else could a kit need? There’s a part of them that wishes that they could just do that when they grow up, instead of becoming a warrior or spelunker.

They find the idea of warriorhood…horrifying. The idea of fighting and having to attend gatherings and dealing with Blizzardclan all seems like way too much. How are they going to be expected to talk to some stranger from some scary clan that everyone always talks really bad about when they can barely talk to the cats in their own camp! The only cats they truly feel comfortable around are Lilacpaw, Angelmask, and Charm (though they are forever confused as to why he’s only got one name instead of two.) They were also close with their mother, even as she spiraled, and hasn’t truly gotten over her death yet. A part of them is jealous of Lilacpaw…how could she seem to move on so easily, when they can’t even sleep a night without seeing their mother’s sobbing face in their dreams? Why had she been so sad to begin with? Maybe Slipperpaw had done something bad…maybe that’s why she left. Well, Slipperpaw may not be the most determined cat, but they know that they want their mom back, and so they’ll do whatever it takes to accomplish that.

Born to Yellowpetal alone, Slipperkit grew up unaware of the tragedy surrounding their birth. Their father, Wildtuft, had passed just three days before their birth, having been killed by a wild buck, leaving his family of three behind to pick up the pieces. Yellowpetal never fully recovered from the incident, and while she did her best to care for her kits, her situation continued to deteriorate, as the stress and grief took its toll. When the kits were just 7 weeks old, she passed away of heartbreak. Slipperkit, being so young, didn’t truly understand what death meant. They just knew that mom had left, and that everyone kept telling them that she wasn’t coming back. But why? They’d been a good kit, or had tried to be…and Lilackit seemed perfect in every way? Perhaps Slipperkit had done something wrong.

The incident closed them off from the world, and even after Angelmask took them in, they remained quiet and isolated for a good while afterwards. Eventually they allowed Angelmask and Charm into their life, but aside from those two they still remain in the shadows. Now an apprentice, Slipperpaw will be forced to step into the limelight. Are they ready? Or will they continue to hide themself away?
