Appearance

Summary : Ceraun possesses a very intimidating appearance as a 20 inch tall Gigantism tom with a lean figure, flexible body, and long legs. His large almost bear-like paws possess long claws, which make running even easier. His pelt is that of a Black Charcoal Marbled Bengal, with an array of warm browns, dark browns, tans, and almost blacks throughout his pelt. He has medium length silky, soft, and fluffy fur throughout his body. His very long and abnormal prehensile tail can move in any direction and is strong enough to grip objects. His face is equipped with pointed ears with ear tufts, along with his most striking feature- his piercing almond-shaped eyes which pop out of his dark zorro mask. His irises are a collaboration of Cornflower Blue and Deep Slate Blue multi-sectoral heterochromia, on top of Gunmetal Grey spiked central heterochromia. The last thing to note about Ceraun, is the large Lichtenberg scar that runs from the center of his shoulder blades, curving down the right side of his neck, twisting in front of his right shoulder, and running along the center of his chest before ending at his sternum. All of this gives Ceraun a very impressive and imposing look, which tends to frighten those who don’t know him.

Personality

Stoic Healer

Ceraun’s appearance gives off the idea that he doesn’t care what’s going on around him. He seems aloof and contemptuous at all times with his resting expression being viewed as irritated or contemptuous, which can lead to others believing he is standoffish or unfriendly. His massive figure, large Lichtenberg scar, and piercing eyes can give any cat the chills. That, combined with his usual “won’t speak unless spoken to” nature, has many strangers avoiding his path.

Despite this, Ceraun’s personality is not that of a vicious nature. He is simply an extremely reserved tom. He is not a timid or nervous cat, he is just far more private about himself and slower to open up. He doesn’t speak unless spoken to, being someone who doesn’t enjoy idle chatter or drawn out discussions. If involved in conversation, his responses tend to be clipped, with his words short and direct. When he needs to be heard, Ceraun does possess a very strong and projecting voice, and he will not shy away from using it when it is needed.

Ceraun’s expressions don’t give anything away, as he doesn’t outwardly express his emotions very often, with only very faint changes sometimes indicating his emotions. Despite not being very expressive, Ceraun does feel very strongly. He is a very compassionate tom, and has wished to help and protect others from a very young age. Even if it means going out of his way and receiving no benefit, Ceraun will help all those who need it. Protecting those who cannot protect themselves, and saving those who need saving has been something Ceraun has always done. He will readily put himself in harm's way if it means saving another cat. Jumping into water to save a drowning cat, climbing into a ditch to help someone who is stuck, even taking the blow for another in a fight, Ceraun will do it all.

Fairness is one of Ceraun’s core beliefs. As someone who has seen the sick and injured, along with the unfairness of life, Ceraun strives to treat everyone equally. Mother Nature does not treat all her children the same, so Ceraun tries to give the less-fortunate the extra boost they need. Even when his help isn’t always wanted. Whether this be helping a starving cat hunt, or stepping into a fight with an obvious outcome, he strives to level the playing field. And while he doesn’t enjoy drawing blood, he is not reluctant to do so if it means ending an escalated situation.

With his outwardly cold demeanor and closed off heart, Ceraun is not one who lets many get close to him. However, if someone were to worm their way past his defenses and into his heart- he would never let them go. Ceraun is fiercely protective of those he holds dear to him. Fairness and equality is thrown out the window when someone he cherishes is threatened. He is big, and he has claws. He will not hesitate.

While Ceraun is not the type of cat who enjoys crowded areas, and will avoid populated groups, he can remain calm in tough situations. Heated debates, chaotic circumstances, and pressured decisions, Ceraun can keep a level head during it all. It is usually in these difficult scenarios that others need help, and so he needs to be able to react swiftly in these situations in order to assist those who need it most.

Ceraun also has a love of running, climbing, and simply exploring. He doesn’t enjoy staying in one place for too long, and enjoys being on the move. That being said, he does enjoy having a place to call home, so he doesn’t ever wander too far. When he’s not helping others, passing time alone with his thoughts by running across the moor or climbing between trees and up mountains is something Ceraun finds calming and relaxing.

However, one of Ceraun’s biggest personality traits is his absolute love of storms. When it begins to storm; whether it’s wind, water, snow or lightning, all of Ceraun’s barriers crumble. He becomes a joyful little kit in the presence of the chaos that Mother Nature can unleash. While responsibilities are important, Ceraun will struggle to remain focused on a task when the weather unleashes its worst. One of his greatest joys is running through the rain, climbing trees completely soaked and absolutely letting himself loose as the forces of nature pelt at his fur. It is only in moments like these that you will see a truly carefree and unreserved smile gracing his face, his bright eyes wide and an almost crazed look deep within. As the storm settles, he will return to his usual reserved and guarded self. Until the next storm, that is.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths :

Size: Ceraun is not one to get insecure about his figure despite his 20in height making him stick out like a sore thumb, his strange heterochromic eyes, and his prehensile tail. Instead, he uses his size combined with his unusual tail to their full advantage. Because he is so large, he can carry out tasks that would normally require two cats to complete. He is able to carry injured cats, move heavy objects, and transport large amounts of materials all by himself. His prehensile tail can be used as an anchor while maneuvering himself into precarious environments, and can also be used to restrain or grapple small to smaller medium sized cats. Overall, his enormous size gives him many advantages in life.

Endurance: Endurance is the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity. With his high endurance, Ceraun is able to run and work for long periods of time. His long legs combined with a lean flexible body allows Ceraun to eat up distance with ease- and he can maintain that velocity for extended periods of the time. He is able to work on physical labor for extended periods of time without needing a break, this being especially useful when multiple cats need saving. He knows his body won’t go out on him, so he can push himself past limits other cats couldn’t dare to entertain. Outside of working, his tolerance for activity also allows him to let loose during his preferred weather, running and playing in storms without needing to catch his breath.

Pragmatism: Ceraun is very pragmatic. Meaning he deals with things sensibly and realistically in a way that is based on practical rather than theoretical considerations. He sees the world for what it is now, and doesn’t bother dreaming of what could be or what could’ve been. When faced with a situation, he thinks of realistic solutions and probable conclusions to problems. It is very rare that he lets emotions cloud his judgment, which allows him to make calm and level-headed decisions.

Weaknesses :

Concealment: With Ceraun’s large size, it is very difficult for him to hide himself. Small spaces like underneath bushes or between rock where other cats could hide are impossible for Ceraun to reach. Even with his dark coat, anyone would be able to see him with his size alone. His abnormally long and prehensile tail can make his concealment difficult, as managing such a long appendage can prove burdensome. His inability to conceal himself very well also costs him when it comes to hunting. Even with a dark coat, his size alone makes it difficult for him to avoid brushing against foliage in denser terrains. In more open terrains, he can be spotted very quickly. So unless his prey is dumb enough to mistake him for a large rock, he will have some trouble.

Aching Scar: Ceraun’s very large and very unique scar will act up whenever he works for extended periods of time. Any activity that requires him to use the muscles in his upper back, right shoulder, and chest will irritate the lightning figure scar placed on his body. This, combined with Ceraun’s high endurance, leaves him having frequent scar aches. It can be both uncomfortable and distracting when he is working. When he pushes himself too far, it can even become crippling, the soreness becomes tender and impossible to ignore. This state could prevent him from using his full abilities- which could lead to someone getting hurt.

Unsociability: His unsociability is actually a large weakness of Ceraun’s. His scary demeanor along with large size and unexpressive features tends to leave strangers wary of his presence. When you’re a cat like Ceraun, who has a driving goal of helping others, coming across as unfriendly can lead to large predicaments. When it comes to cats who are familiar with Ceraun’s personality, his unsociability is less of a problem, but it is never completely erased. Awkward conversations, along with miscommunication where emotions are involved, tend to bring up issues.

History

Ceraun’s mother, Selene the Dark Moon, was a Providence Nurse, a molly who was sufficient at her work and always completed the tasks delegated to her. When she was assigned to the care of a loner tom named Timber, she thought nothing of it. However, over the course of his treatment, she fell in love and became pregnant. It was near the end of Timber's recovery when the Calamity hit. During that time- he disappeared. Shortly after the end of Calamity, Ceraun was born. He was named Ceraun in accordance with the old Hound naming system. Selene, knowing she had a responsibility to her only kit, stayed until he was weaned. Once Ceraun was 2 moons of age, she left Providence indefinitely in order to find her mate.

Ceraun, without any parents or siblings, would grow up within Providence. He exhibited interest in the well-being of others, and his big size showed signs of being extremely useful when it came to large tasks. For the most part, he was a very docile and rule-abiding kit, normal other than growing much larger and at a much faster rate than other cats.

The incident occurred when he was three moons of age. A thunderstorm swept over the coastal territories and coaxed Ceraun out of the Providence camp. Despite the rules, he ventured out alone. The storm brought forth a feeling of immense joy and freedom, and the large kit found himself playing in chaotic rain, traveling up the Hollow Mountain where Providence resides in order to be closer to the sky. The warning cracks of lightning and roars of thunder did not deter Ceraun, and he paid the price. A bolt of lightning struck the charcoal tom, the electricity searing his body, and he fell unconscious. He was found by his Providence companions before he regained consciousness, and was brought back to camp for treatment.

Ceraun survived his encounter with lightning, and made a full recovery. However, he was left with a large Lichtenberg scar spanning from the center of his shoulder blades, curving down the right side of his neck, twisting in front of his right shoulder, and running along the center of his chest before ending at his sternum. The scar would sometimes ache after extraneous activity that involved the muscles near the scar, but it would not ache during storms like other cats would complain about with their scarring. No, Ceraun was not deterred from storms even after having such an encounter with the forces of nature. He would continue to venture out during the most treacherous weather and enjoy the variety Mother Nature blessed the earth with.
