Summary
Even though this world is narrow, it is wide... to those who understand.
Eridan is a powerful fortune-teller who works for one of the world's greatest kings. In this universe, having psychic/magic powers is very often criticized by the civilization, very few people possessed this mysterious mystical power which is to see through people their destinies, which frightened the population as well as the kings who no longer believed in clairvoyance and were more interested in science than magic, treating them as monsters able to see their deaths. In any case, Eridan interposed himself against this idealism and wanted this business to be evaluated and of better quality/reputation so that the royals would take them back despite the opposition of science and technology whose the nobles largely prefer. He truly believes that fortune telling and psychic abilities, despite their criticism by the general public and population can be used for good.

「 Personality 」
"The Black Hole." Such a cruel title to give someone. To deem them something not even light can escape. To call me a devil. No matter- I will continue my work. Soon enough, I will be the one to purge the corruption from within this kingdom, with or without the positive opinions of the people within. I have my loyal few, and they will be all I need to ensure my task is complete.
Eridan initially presents himself as a calm and somewhat laid-back person, breaking the expectations placed upon him. He projects an absence of enthusiasm and diminished self-esteem as a strategy to downplay the unremarkable aspect of his job. Many regard him as a bit of a jester in the king's court or else as a mysterious eccentric and quite charming guy helping people.
「 The Reality 」
Eridan owns a fortune-telling group and recruits clients who form a bond with him, allowing him to control and predict their futures using their "magical" life energy. His group mostly focuses on Existential Crisis and have sort feeling they are into a dream. Because of this, many people consider him as a devil. Even nicknamed "The Black Hole". But despite the complaints and the gossips, the river fortune teller generally doesn't seem to give an eye to this and just focus on his work. The nobility sought to protect him in order to sacrifice relationship those who were less compliant to them. While participating in a game alongside the kings where he is relegated to the role of a mere pawn, Eridan becomes increasingly vexed by the situation and secretly desires to help the population and put an end to the manipulative power plays. He even condemns secretly and brings misfortune to those who use it for evil as the people would fear to prove himself further as a fortune-teller that isn't what people make him out to be. Through these clandestine actions, nobody can prove he's doing something like committing murder or silencing others.
「 Backstory 」
According to rumors, Eridan is the child of a woman who had a relationship with King Helios but she ran away to avoid rumors of this relationship (Helios quite cheated on his wife). At adult age, he discovers the truth about his father and seeks to meet him, eventually joining the court. Eridan fails during a conference in front of all due to lacking skills, resulting to his disgrace and exile. He was so ashamed of his performance; for hours on end, he put the top of his head and veiled his eyes within the river's embrace. Resulting in his transformation from the sun to the moon. The teller started working on his reputation presenting himselves under another identity after his defeat. He doesn't consider himself as royalty anymore, more as a worker even though he is a child of the most powerful King.
Trivia
- Eridan name was based of Phaethon and the river of hades also of the constellation called Eridanos. There's also a supervoid called the CMB cold spot. This connection can think of the cold reading he does afterall.
- Eridan enjoys to give riddles to his clients. but in truth it makes no sense at all and accept any answer of his words.
- His favorite food was walnuts, and he appreciates ambient music.
- He has a collection of different species of frogs. He's always tell to his colleagues about those little animals transformation and adaptability, reminding them of the ever-changing nature of fate and the need to embrace change.
- If you press his skin firmly, you can see amber veins glowing. But it's best not to do it because he dislikes it.
- Wish to play instruments (mostly cello.) but he has no free time to this.
- Occasionally, he enjoys sitting in a chair and taking a nap, assuming a pose similar to that of the statue "The Thinker."
