Zhenya is an Animagus since early on in life already. Meaning that she can turn into an Animal at will and back again. The Magic Schools in Ukraine teach that advanced spell to younger students already; she was part of the Course before she transferred to Hogwarts.
Later in life she became known as "The Scarlet Occamy" since the red coloration was quite unusual for the Species itself, especially with a golden hue. She has to be careful since she could be a valuable target for Poachers.

Newt Scamander
best friend/husband
They knew eachother since the schooldays in Hogwarts. Zhenya had loved Newt since their 3rd year together and valued their close friendship too much to confess. It was clear to many that she liked him a bit more than just as a friend; a best friend that is. But he was either too oblivious or just couldn't let himself believe that another girl liked him that much.
They had kept in touch whenever they couldn't see eachother. Only after Newt had rescued her from Poachers many years ago had they become closer, especially when they faced the threat of Grindelwald in that time. They had married a few years after they had become a couple officially.
Newt often calls her names of endearments modelled after Magical Beasts when he steps over his initial shyness.
