Rendell is the heir to the noble House Wenels. House Wenels sponsors the dueling league, which Rendell is steadily climbing through the ranks of. The original patron of the house, Wenels himself, saved a dragons eggs, and the dragon granted him a small portion of his hoard, as well as a "blessing" on his descendants. Wenels used the wealth to start his noble house, and lived in peace for his life. The family kept in contact with the dragon, who is a staunch ally to the house. The house lived in relative harmony, until one day during one of Rendells duels, his opponent tried to assassinate him. The assassination attempt failed, but the assassin somehow got away thanks to a loophole in the legal system. Shortly after, all communications with the dragon stopped being answered. Rendell now strives, through political movements and acts of blade and his ancestral draconic magic, to discover what machinations go on behind the scenes.
