Considering I first made dawn in 2018, its safe to say her design & the story she takes part in is influenced by Voltron. But in recent years its been slightly more influenced by Star Wars.
In her Universe, interplanetary travel is normal. Not everyone does it, but it is extremely common. With some people's jobs focusing entirely on transport & shipping between planets; this being Alto's Job. Dawn works for her species' (which holds intergallactic territory) military.
