s a poor young Marilith in the big city, 'False Falls', she would try to trade her carvings from thrown-away boxes or other free/forgotten materials for coins. Occasionally she would be given the honor of working on a commissioned piece by some pedestrians or even entering others' homes to help fix things for cheap. After a few years, she would have been decently well-known by the locals. And perhaps taken on as an apprentice by a still undesigned humble woodcarving NPC

When her Master turned a ripe age of maybe going to turn into dust any second now, he passed on his shop to her as none of his own children had any interest in the business. She immediately started to hit a rough patch as she didn't realize how expensive the lumber business was, it was seemingly impractical to harvest her own trees as she had so little space to store them. So she turned back to her old ways of refurbishing old wooden trash and giving it a new life.

For the most part, she made a good little life for herself. She was able to sell pieces here and there, barely keeping herself afloat. Everything went south when she brought in termite (or lore-specific creature) infested wood to her shop. They quickly made good work of her shop, widdling their way into all her sculptures and furniture. Worse yet was when she sold one of these pieces to the youngest Mylis child of the time. It was a beautifully crafted wooden tree with a small owlbear cub sitting next to it.

Imagine the surprise in her eyes when a very angry member of the Mylis family came storming into her shop holding that same sculpture she had sold only days before. Not surprisingly the young child's room had been infested as well. Leaving many holes in some of their priceless family pieces. At first, they were going to force her to close down her shop. But they were too disgusted by the state of it to stay longer than a few minutes. So instead they insisted that she meet at their home, where it no longer felt like the little insects would burrow into their precious skin.

It was actually the child who ended up getting her the job. They were very content on moping around in front of their parents, he wanted to show them just how upset he was about them tossing the sculpture he bought with his very own 'hard-earned' money. He refused to leave when asked and would often give snarky remarks like "Leave? So you can throw away my bedframe too while I'm not looking. Might as well tell me to sleep on the floor."

Him being their only and very spoiled child, he was able to guilt them into working alongside her instead. That way he could have all the cool toys he wanted whenever he wanted.

So in a twist of fates, instead of losing her small buisness, they actually rebuilt it. Bigger and better. Why you ask? Well, of course, the Mylis family couldn't be seen doing business with a tiny insect-infested wood shop. That would sully their name. Make it seem like their wood was cheap.

So they made the shop into something that would compliment their title, all to make their small bundle of joy shut up and leave them alone for a little.

With the Mylis name by her side suddenly Business was booming and she no longer had to worry about wood supplies.

She was able to train many apprentices in the time before she met the party. Each of them branched out around the continent opening open more sister shops in her name.

t is quite easy to grow bored when you have lived the same life for at least a hundred years. To be honest, she is very impressed by a dwarf's commitment to their craft. It was that night when the 'murder mystery' party was held that Ira took the chance to... escape... her current life. She was in search of entertainment. And how much more entertaining of a party could you find, than one who set flames to a mansion, speaks to the fae, and hosts fake mystery games to cover up their own mistakes. What? They are chasing some sort of deadly sin character? Sounds thrilling. The fact that they didn't even try to tell her off for following them made things so much easier.

So that night she left without a trace, leaving her current apprentice in charge of her current shop, whether they wanted it or not. Who knows what they thought happened to her? Maybe she was burnt to a crisp in the fire? Or a group of bandits got to her on her travels back? Either way, they were in charge of a large sum of money now, even if they didn't technically own the store.
