Euka is a traveling cook and a ray of sunshine. He  was born in a far off brood, but left to peruse his passions after  forming a tether with a giant Goliath beetle named Gubby. He enjoys  travelling, documenting all the different plants, fruit and wildlife he  finds. He travels along side Todea, who he shares a familial bond with.

He is a happy gremlin guy, but wasn't always that way.

euka is unique because he basically won the genetic lottery and is has almost pure Chitin (the fantasy bug race in my world), due to these traits hes expected to harness great power with his tether, but hasn't been able to find it despite years of focused prayer, ritual, and search. If you'd like to learn what tf any of that means check out the world building doc below

Lore!! (If your interested and want to draw character interactions)

I heavily recommend reading the world building information before reading any character backstories, it lays an important foundation and is only about a page in length!!

Pre-Timeskip

Age 11

For as long as he could remember, Euka always felt  the world calling to him. Its forests, the colours, the food. Perhaps it was the insect tether he was born with, or maybe it was something that went deeper. A hunger for life outside of survival, but adventure was never something he was allowed to want. He was born into a struggling family, outcast from their brood, and Eukas tether was not seen as sacred, but valuable, specifically to his parents.

There had been whispers about the great colony of Gossamer, and their rapidly growing tech company Insecta. For high prices they would take children with tethers, and pay even more if they could also get their hands on their insect companions. Parents handed off their kids under the guise of opportunity, as it seemed the children were well taken care of. It was easier not to ask questions.

Euka's parent's soon recruited Todea,  to take Euka and help locate Gubby, and bring him back once the tether  was reestablished. She was unaware of their plans to give him to  insecta, and was offered money, so she agreed. Euka was loud and curious  and very irritating, worming his way into her life. In turn, though,  Euka softened her in ways that she didn't think were possible.

When they finally found Gubby, Euka begged Todea not  to take him back to his brood and family. He wanted to spend the rest  of his life traveling like Todea did - but she declined. She has a job  and duty, and she's not going to just steal this child. The goodbye was  bitter sweet, but Todea promised to visit in secret. When she came back,  though, Euka was gone, and after interrogating his parents she quickly  put together that him and Gubby were given to Insecta.

This was Todea's worst nightmare for many reasons,  and immediately made it her goal to do everything in her power to get  Euka back

By the time Euka got out a year later, he was  different. Quieter, sadder. The joy hadn't disappeared but it felt  forced now, something that wouldn't ever go away. It was something that  he wore for Todea, he felt like he owed her his happiness, he owed her a  lot of saving him. Since then, the two have been inseparable, bonded by  a shared promise.

They made it their goals to do anything in their  power to get Gubby back, and take down Insecta while they're at it. So,  when missing posters for Insectas silver child, Asoma,  start littering the streets, they both know they need her. Not for the  high reward, though that would be nice, but for the vital information  that she could provide.

At first, Todea and especially Euka were  very weary and closed off from Asoma. But soon they realized that she  was widely ignorant to most of the skeletons Insecta hid in their  closet, and she just wanted to help people. Her and Euka form a sibling  bond that helps Euka come out of their shell after some time. Asoma  proves quite helpful in their mission, and as they find, has a few  reasons why she wants to take down Insecta as well.

Age 16

Euka  now works with Todea and Asoma. To get by, they usually steal from Colony-goers in Gossamer. It's been many years that they've been trying to investigate how to get Gubby back, but every day things get more complicated and Insecta cracks down on their security. Something big is coming, and it seems they're preparing for it.

There haven't been any good leads in a while. That is, until Asoma spots a very specific watch, in the possession of Alfe. One  that functions as a key, and is only given to workers at Insecta. This  plan to rob Alfe turns upside down when it's clear Alfe isn't just some bard at a tavern. But instead of becoming enemies, they have a common interest; Insecta. Alfe holds information and access that is vital for their plan, and it seems that there's something in Insecta that Alfe wants to get to BADLY.

Character dynamics for drawing:

TodeaDeep  familial bond. Euka would trust Todea with his life, and holds a deep admiration and respect for her. He loves riding on her shoulders and being a bother, he's one of the few things that can put a smile on that sour face and he makes it his mission to. Almost to a detrimental degree  though, because Todea feels responsible for his happiness, and so Euka feels obligated to be happy all the time for her sake, and vice versa.  It's the least he could do after everything she's done for him after all.

AsomaSibling  bond. Euka loves watching Asoma tinker with her gadgets in awe, and in return Asoma loves watching Euka cook in awe. They often get into trouble together, and Euka helps Asoma come out of her shy shell.

AlfeBanter  heavy, mutual eye-rolls. Euka doesnt buy Alfe's whole facade and Alfe  is lowkey threatened by how much Euka sees through them. They're annoyed by him at first, but after finding out about his past hold a pretty deep respect.
