Lazarus Sanguinarius: vampire king.

the most important and respected vampire in the Dark City. rose to power through skilled politicking and feats of strength, and has maintained that power for many years. the Sanguinarius family is small and close-knit; their position of power puts them in a dangerous position, and they must always be able to trust each other above all else. Lazarus himself has nearly been assassinated several times; he wears the scars with pride, as if to say “if all those others couldn’t kill me, do you really think you will?”

the king of vampires is responsible for mediation in every dispute between families who cannot solve their business themselves. usually, this means only the most important conflicts cross their doors; vampires don’t enjoy compromise, but more than that they hate to have their family business aired to outsiders. but the king is busy no matter how many families deal with their own problems: there is a precarious balance struck between vampires, humans, and werewolves which the vampire king has personal interest in maintaining. 

Lazarus has a strategic mind and a good sense for manipulation, which has only grown better over the decades he has held this position. knowing precisely how to turn his enemies against each other has saved his life before. he strives never to be predictable: as soon as the world thinks they know him, he turns it on its head. he is not so bound by stuffy tradition as the rest of his kind.
