The Lore So Far

Orphaned at a young age in wartime, all Bakyt has known is struggle. He can not-so-fondly recall many cold nights in the orphanage he was raised in, being passed over by dozens of adults looking for kids, and ignored by many who were mourning the loss of their own children, or simply not looking for children at all, unable to support them. He lived in the orphanage until his late teens, when he enlisted in the military to help support his home's cause, and to help people who had been wronged by the war like himself.

After working out his military contract, he didn't know where to go. He had no skills besides those of the combat medic life he served, and it didn't feel right to sit back and work a normal job after everything that he'd gone through. He wasn't built for that kind of thing, he figured. It was during this time that he was approached by MaXVII, who offered him a place in their organisation, Sabre - an organisation that he claimed worked to better the lives of others. Bakyt, believing this to be the job he had been searching for, eagerly agreed to join him, and worked with them for a good while. During this time, he met his to-be fiancee, Nittiya.

Everything was not as it seemed. Though the organisation did do a good job of keeping him ignorant, it was during a mission that Bakyt realised the harm that he was doing under the organisation's orders. Until now, he had been following orders blindly - but when that boy looked at him with rage and pain in his eyes, rage and pain that Bakyt found so familiar to him, he saw himself in him, and shocked himself into recognising that it was his fault the boy was suffering; it was his fault that this entire town was suffering, and who knows how many more he had hurt on his way here.

Bakyt realised that he needed to leave. He couldn't, in good faith, work alongside people who hurt others for their own benefit. Bakyt wanted to help people, not hurt them; in fact, hurting others is the last thing he had ever wanted to do. After a reconnaissance mission to the Dustbowl - a wasteland planet overriden with radiation - his fiancee was struck with Radio-Rot, a radioactive disease native to said planet that rapidly decays cells. With the medical treatment provided by his organisation, they were able to contain it to Nittiya's arm. However, the organisation had caught onto Bakyt's plans of leaving them - and threatened that if he did as much, they would stop treating him. Nittiya, knowing that Bakyt was utterly miserable, urged him to leave, and that he would be alright - that he had a plan. Though reluctant, Bakyt knew that his fiancee was rather stubborn and at times could be brash, and complied to his wishes. He followed through with his original plans and fled from the organisation. The same day, Nittiya had seemingly vanished from a medical ward overgrown with thorn-ridden vines, and the organisation could find neither man.

Bakyt and Nittiya quickly got back into contact, but when they met again, the damage was done; Nittiya's arm had needed to be amputated to stop the spread of the rot. Though Bakyt felt horribly guilty for indirectly causing the loss of his lover's arm, Nittiya urged him not to worry and that he would engineer a prosthetic for himself; that there was no harm done. He'd live on, stubborn as ever.

Nowadays, Bakyt is a traveling medic. He helps those in need and punishes those who need it, making connections and searching for a way to bring the organisation that had caused he and so many others so much strife to the ground.

Personality

Bakyt is naturally a very kind man. Though ridden with guilt at all the harm he caused people in the past, he lives through each day with a smile, and does whatever he can to help whomever he can, hoping to make up for those past transgressions. Nittiya lives stationary working a flower shop, and Bakyt makes sure to make time to visit him when he can. They both care for one another deeply.

At times, he can be quite snarky. He often makes jokes about his appearance, calling himself handsome, cool, intelligent, and the like. Though he seems full of himself in this way, they are, in the end, simply jokes.

He has a penchant for mechanics. The boots that he wears are rocket-powered, allowing him to maneuver quickly and jump great heights and distances. His gun, though it was custom-made by Awan, has since been modified by himself. The other machines in his possession, such as the robotic arms in his wall and backpack, as well as the eyepiece he wears, are all also hand-made by him.
