Aerial/Aquatic, but they spend more time on the shore than in the waters of Kaleido. Their name which alludes to the word "Shoal" was given for the fact that they remain within sight of the cool waters, yet they prefer to stick to the shallows or the sharp reefs which can be seen just under the surface. Sticking to environments of cooler temperature, this Hoshibuki also favors parts of the forest zone where they can pick out grasses to chew and fruits to forage.

They are a talented chef that specializes in making vegetarian dishes that borrow from the vast lands of Kaleido, but can cook meats just as well. Occasionally, this Hoshi takes pleasure to eat a large piece of beef on the bone. However, this food is best served to a group where the plentiful dish can be shared with friends. They are afraid of the Tundra zone and the snowcap drains them considerably. Seeing that their coat is dotted with the fine colors of sandstone, it can be implied that they enjoy sweeping red cliffs of soft stone, and they harbor a talent for carving caves, walls and intricate stone sculptures. If one asks very politely, Sasu can be helpful with stone-carving and brick-laying. Leaving an offering of fruits and spicy vegetables around the shores of a river or lake, someone can bribe him out to laying the foundations of a simple building.
