Satoko lost both her parents as an infant while staying with her aunt and uncle, who then became her primary caretakers. Her aunt, Asami, taught her everything she knew about plants and herbs, as well as natural remedies. Satoko quickly took over the garden, caring for all manner of flowers, berry bushes, fruits, veggies and herbs. Her garden became so big that when their neighbors house was for sale, Satoko used the money left from her parents to buy it and removed the house, letting her garden spread to another lot.

Satoko began experimenting and discovering new curative combinations and uses for various plants, surpassing her aunts knowledge and began selling her cures as teas, pills, oils and even as raw herbs. She also became fond of baking with her homegrown ingredients. She amassed a large following of the sick and ill, who swore her cures worked like miracles, and as such her product became more sought after. Because she had only a small garden, people began offering more money for her products, driving the price up to the point people could resell her cures for hundreds of dollars.

During her time at Hope's Peak Academy Satoko bonded with all 15 of her fellow classmates, but was closest to Chiffon, Akihiro, Jackie, Keiko and Rahul. After their graduation, they were offered enrollment at Hope's Peak University, an experimental college for Ultimates. Satoko, along with her 15 other classmates accepted, and spent the remaining time leading up to The Tragedy there.

Once The Tragedy started, Class 75^th was evacuated by Rahul's father, as well as their families. The group was eventually contacted to become part of the Future Foundation. They accepted, returning to Japan and fighting against the Despairs and attempting to rescue Class 78^th. Shortly after, Makoto Naegi reached out to them to assist in helping the Remnants of Despair be rehabilitated, which Satoko was a part of.

After the world began returning to normal, both branches of Hope's Peak were reopened, and Satoko along with Class 75^th returned to classes.
