Cindershot was stationed on the penal colony of Garrus-9 the day that it was overtaken by the Phase Sixer Overlord. Among his fellow guards, he was tortured in front of Fortress Maximus in an attempt to get him to break. When that didn't work, Cindershot was put in the gladiatorial pits to burn both friends and prisoners alike in unfair fights. When Garrus-9 was finally liberated three years later, he was put into mandated psychiatric care for his vivid hallucinations and aggressive behavior.
