A vampire with demonic traits, or a demon with vampiric ones? He's something unnatural, at any rate. Danté is a former exorcist and Catholic priest, infected by something foul during a failed exorcism. His partner, a younger priest, held him captive as he nervously wrung his hands and debated what to do with him, but after Danté slipped from his bonds to save the young man from a grisly fate at the hands of another fiend, they came to an understanding. Danté would no longer hold the authority of a priest, but he would continue to assist the church in rooting out evil, in return for his life.

His affliction was obvious, after all, and difficult to hide in their line of work. Even disregarding his sharp fangs and the unsettling void of his eyes, he had also developed a distressing tendency towards vomitting black ichor and speaking with the voice of Legion whenever he uttered the Word of God. Nowadays, when not involved in a hunt, Danté works as a librarian and researcher at a local university, which he likes well enough. Even as a blood-drinking spawn of the Devil, he's still a bookworm, well-read in both historical events and religious scripture.

Some vampires bemoan their thirst and eternal undeath. Many demons embrace their worst impulses towards bloodlust, cruelty and excess. Danté's temper has grown noticably shorter over the course of the last few decades (as even in life he had little patience for those who couldn't keep up with him), and his disposition is often aloof and somewhat sarcastic, but he's not malicious or particularly dangerous to innocent bystanders, beyond the occasional light feeding he requires to stay alive. He does, however, consider himself the judge, jury and executioner of other monsters.
