Ruki the Seafaring Kobold
Where life goes - so, too, should you...
Ruki is an adventurous little kobold who travels the seas in search of new lands, treasures, and adventures. Though she is somewhat shy, she is caring and protective of her friends and her crew to a fault, willing to lay down her life to keep them safe from storm or foe.
Ruki is non-binary and fairly androgynous, not conforming to gender stereotypes in her manner of dress, behavior, or sexual activity. Most often, she presents in a feminine manner and uses female pronouns, but she will not take offense to the use of other pronouns or descriptors.

Ruki exemplifies life on the high seas, while still remaining a bit more proper than pirates and other nautical ruffians. Though she is well-mannered and shy at first, she is rowdy, playful, and even a bit of a trickster around her close friends and crewmates.
While she isn't quick to admit it, Ruki is also rather creative and loves to compose poems and shanties about the lands she visits or wishes to return to. Some of these are commonly sung by her own crew and those abroad, though few likely to know that it was the kobold herself who originally wrote their words and melodies.
Background
Ruki was raised in a small, ocean-side town. Life for many in her hometown revolved around the sea, though few strayed far from home, opting to remain simple fishermen or ferrykeepers instead. The kobold would not settle for such a boring existence, however. She quickly enlisted with a treasure-seeking crew and waved goodbye to her old home, setting out for life upon the rolling ocean waves.
She quickly excelled at many of the duties of life onboard the ship, soon becoming the captain's right-hand and helping the crew to uncover many exotic lands and treasures. She was a talented navigator and, while her old captain will tell you otherwise, was known among the crew for her quick tongue and charismatic charms. She made friends quickly and worked her way through the ranks, perhaps due more to her ability to talk up her skills than actually present them.
Within a few years, she had earned enough to purchase a small vessel for herself and enlisted a crew of her own. Together, this new band of adventurers set out (mostly on good terms with her former crew) for their own adventures. While some of Ruki's flaws as a leader were immediately apparent, her crew was forgiving and helped her through rain and shine. In the end, her faults and missteps would actually become one of the crew's greatest strengths, leading them on unpredictable adventurers and strengthening their bond.
Skills & Abilities
Navigation
Able to navigate the sea or land, and can track friends, foe, and treasure. Be it following a compass, reading a map, or even writing her own, Ruki knows how to stay on course - or, at the very least, can pretend she does when she gets lost.
Writing and Wordplay
Good with words, rhyming, and rhythm. She can write poems or songs to entertain during long voyages, or talk her way out of trouble when her confidence is high.
Leadership
Always keeps the wellbeing of her crew in mind and can keep morale and confidence high. While she's not always the best at coming up with a plan, she knows the strengths and weaknesses of the crew and can make sure each adventure is successful in one way or another.
Keen Eye
Able to see long distances and spot weaknesses in enemies, to make up for her own lack of defense or skill. She has a good eye for patterns and small details.

- Ruki is scalie with feathery hair and tail fluff.
- Portraying her as an anthro-dragon of sorts is generally a good way to go if you're unsure.
- Feel free to remove the chest pattern or make it less intricate if the piece is smaller or simpler.
- Artistic liberties with her design are fine - just run them by me!
