"Hey there! Can I help ya?"

About

•BENEVOLENT•CHEERFUL•GENUINE•IRRITABLE•BLUNT•NAIVE•

Gale is a former fisherman hailing from Sirennea. After a fateful incident left him with newfound energy and a lust to make more of his life, he decided to travel to the mainlands and find his new purpose. He is a happy triton, never afraid to make a nice and quick chat with anyone he meets. As a true follower of Rydia, he has taken it upon himself to try and protect people as much as possible. Even if he doesn't really have magic of his own, he still tries to stand up for those without power.

Rydia's temper is legendary, and it seems like some of that wild rage has entered Gale's life once he got struck by the Great Healer's lightning. While he usually is an easygoing man with no desire to fight randomly, he does have a tendency to lose his cool quicker than others. At best, this can cause him to say things without thinking it through. At worst, it can cause him to lash out in a peculiar display of power. He fights with the force of the sea, the speed of lightning, and the unforgivable chill of a Gale.

While he does lose his temper quickly, Gale does mean well. He is a good friend for those who accept him as he is: a fish out of water. However, since he's in a new environment, it can cause him to be a bit naive to possible dangers. He is prone to believe others on their word, since he wouldn't do people any senseless harm - it's only natural to expect the same of others, right?

Backstory

Born as Kevnes Bulodath, this triton lived most of his life on and around Sirennea as a professional fisher. Since both his parents were in the profession, it was only natural that Kevnes followed their footsteps. As a fisher, Kevnes often told exciting stories, but he often felt like he could do so much more than he was doing right now. Regardless, he stuck to the safe option, feeding countless mouths with Rydia's bounty, and braving the seas in his little boat. It changed when Kevnes braced the sea on a stormy day. He should have been smart about this - going onto open sea wasn't a safe thing to do. However, he had to do it. He was responsible for feeding a lot of people that weren't as rich as some other people on the island. And with this determination, Kevnes boarded his little boat, took his fishing equipment, and went out.

The storm was ruthless. Blackened clouds had formed over the entire Sirennean sea. Winds blew against the open water, sending waves the size of men in the air. There admittedly was a moment where the triton man felt like he was doing the wrong thing. Sure, he could just breathe underwater, and he could swim if he was thrown overboard. But he knew of the stories surrounding the ocean. Water can be violent as much as it can be calm. But he was already out, he couldn't turn back. As a last ditch effort, Kevnes prayed to the gods - anyone who would listen - to spare him while he was trying to catch food. It seemed like no one listened. The clouds gathered, and threatening rumbles formed from the friction. A thunderstorm was forming right on the open sea. And in the blink of an eye, a flash of light came right for the little fishing boat that Kevnes was sitting on.

When Kevnes woke up, he found himself back on Sirennea, with nothing but tattered clothes on his body. His gear was lost to the waves. However, it didn't seem like he had any wounds on his body. Nothing except a large burn mark over his entire body, the shape being akin of a fern. It seemed that he was very lucky to have survived such a massive strike. The scar didn't even hurt. Did someone listen after all? Days later, Kevnes felt invigorated. He felt alive, like a new man. It must have been Rydia, watching over him and saving him from death. He felt like he needed to do something with the second life he had been given. He felt a desire to go out, to explore the world beyond the waves, to do something he had never done before. He even changed his name to Gale, after the storms that prefaced this life-changing moment. And after a very short moment of thinking things over, Gale jumped ship and sailed towards mainland.

In the new world, he found himself in a foresty area. Large trees covered the entire area, and birds flew everywhere. It was a brave new world, and Gale was having the time of his life. He documented everything he saw in a little notebook, not wanting to lose this moment to the passage of time. After walking for a long time, Gale eventually found himself in Sae Vala, the capital of Nolaekatan. This is where he met two of his closer friends: Salem the thief, and Arrina the fire mage. Despite them being very different than the people he knew back home, Gale took a liking to them, and started to hang out with them.

One day, Salem got missing. Gale was admittedly feeling a bit miserable about that. One of his first friends, gone. Just like that. So when he found his friend outside of Sae Vala, the triton was so euphoric, he didn't really think about the fact that his friend got broken out of prison. The trio moved to Darbek to escape further enprisonment. Gale did not mind at all - he loved the opportunity to cross the continent to see new environments! Now that he was in the capital, another thought came to mind. Why not adventuring? Adventuring allowed him to see even more of the outside world! And it even let him visit the sea every now and then - he found that he got a bit restless after being away from water for too long.

Salem

Friend

Gale met the young lycanthrope while he traveled to Noleakata. Because Salem often gets sick, Gale is often seen trying to help his friend, even if he doesn't know a lot about medicine. He knows Salem is really good at stealing things, but isn't aware that Salem is actually part of a criminal organization. Though, to be honest, he'd probably didn't care anyway - Salem's a good friend! Image credit: AnimaAngelVT

Arrina

Friend

The fire mage was one of the first people Gale met in Noleakata. Her magic is interesting, as it is quite the opposite of what he is used to. He likes the young woman, she's just a bit awkward. He'd love to learn some fire magic one day, and maybe with enough devotion, he can become as strong as her! Image credit: unknown
