Information

Personality

Nyxim is a loud person both in voice and personality. She’s stouthearted and opinionated. After being forced to repress her feelings and opinions growing up, she’s learning to speak her truth now as an adult. She likes to make sure things go her way, since she was unable to control her own fate as a child. This means she tends to be bossy and standoffish, although she’s quick to explain her reasoning. When she gets deeply upset, she tends to stay quiet as she’s afraid of how harsh her words might be if she lashes out. She has a short temper and tries to be conscious of it but often doesn’t realize she backs herself into an angry corner until it’s too late.

Despite her issues, she’s a very caring and motherly person. She likes to fuss over people and make sure they’re feeling ok, even if she herself isn’t. She’s also very wary of strangers and likes to make sure she knows what they want before she interacts or attempts friendship with them. She’s very touchy and depends on contact with others to feel better, as it wasn’t tolerated when she was younger. Moving to the countryside has not helped her feelings of touch starvation, however the chickens make up for some of the lack of interaction.

STORY

Nyxim was born out of wedlock. Her family came from old money and fussed over their social standing and appearances. Under her grandparents’ care, her mother ran away as a teenager and fell in love with a poor man. After she became pregnant she was forced back home to give birth to Nyxim and was unable to have contact with her daughter after that point. Raised solely by her strict grandmother, Nyxim went to boarding school and had a generally unhappy childhood.

After she reaches adulthood, she runs away from home and travels far from her family’s reaches. The countryside is the best option for her and she finds a small cottage with more than enough space for her lack of personal items. The cottage is a few miles away from civilization and sits at the edge of a forest, which Nyxim loves because she can sit facing the window and watch deer and small critters wander out. Slowly over time she fills her home with knick knacks and tchotchkes to give it some personality, as well as bringing potted plants in make the place livelier.

As some years pass, she enjoys the solitude she is finally given away from her grandmother’s grasp. She raises a few chickens and learns how to grow vegetables to sustain herself. Everything was going fine until she wakes up one morning and finds a chicken ripped to pieces near her porch. She grows increasingly worried when more chickens begin to show up dead. She thinks perhaps it was a fox of sort and so she herds her chickens indoors and keeps them in her spare bedroom until she can find the source of the culling and put an end to it.

Two days later, she sits by the window staring out at the forest, the area illuminated by the light of the full moon. Shotgun in hand, she keeps track of any creatures coming out of the forest. Around 3 AM, she spots a large form, larger than any dog she had ever seen, walk out. Pissed off that she had half her chicken stock killed, she walks out with her shotgun to scare the creature away but is thrown back onto the ground after the creature rushes at her. She shoots the gun up to the creature but misses and her throat gets slashed.

Immediately after this, the creature seems to hear a noise and runs off without hurting her more. Nyxim, bleeding out from her neck, struggles to get back inside her home. She manages to get to her kitchen and grabs a rag which quickly turns red from the blood. She lays on the kitchen floor for the rest of the night and cries, knowing that she doesn’t know any of the neighbors and they’re too far to come to her rescue. She’s scared of dying so young and falls unconscious around sunrise.

She wakes up hours later and is surprised she’s still alive. She’s extremely disoriented and feverish and tries to brew tea and shower to feel better and get rid of the blood. She spends the next week in bed until her fever goes away and the scar on her neck heals. She tries not to think too much about what happened that night and spends the rest of the month trying to overcome the mental trauma of almost dying. It isn’t until a month passes by since the incident that she starts to feel different. Her body aches and she’s getting angry at every small issue. Hair starts growing all over her body and she freaks out over all the changes. At night, she sees the moonlight illuminating the forest and finally turns into a werewolf. In her confused animalistic rage, she rips open the front door and instinctively runs out to the forest to hunt.

And so begins her journey as a new werewolf.

GNALEX

Nyxim was seen by Gnalex during her first full moon shift. The newly turned werewolf was startled by her surroundings and was running on purely primal instincts. Because of this, the witch stayed distant and did not encounter Nyxim again until her next moon shift. During this time, she felt more in control of her mind, but felt overwhelmed due to the changes in her body and psyche. Gnalex approached Nyxim and guided her back to her cabin in the woods to aid her during the rest of her cycle. However, when Nyxim shifted back to human, she could not remember anything about the stranger and wrongfully assumed that Gnalex had done something bad to her. Reluctantly, the witch let her go.

Nyxim tried not to think too much about what happened and why she suddenly woke in a stranger's home. She went about her business, keeping track of any predators by the edge of the woods in order to keep her chickens alive. It wasn't until the next month when she woke up in Gnalex's home again that she realized something was deeply wrong. The witch explained everything that had been happening during the last 2 cycles of Nyxim's transformations, as well as revealing herself as a magic user. It took some time, but eventually Nyxim started to accept that she was a werewolf, something she had never considered existed in the real world. Nyxim thanked Gnalex for her time, and went back home to her cottage at the edge of the woods.

The next few cycles found Nyxim exploring the woods as a werewolf with Gnalex by her side, guiding her through the supernatural unknown. Although she still did not have full control of herself as a werewolf, every cycle felt easier and easier until eventually she felt like herself throughout her shift. As the cycles continued, Nyxim felt herself growing closer to Gnalex, each time wanting more and more to see the witch outside of their usual time spent together.  She would often think about Gnalex while she was home and her mind would be occupied with all the things she would like to talk to her about. Eventually, her feelings turned romantic and she was later pleasantly surprised to find out that Gnalex had been feeling the same way, and soon they became inseparable.
