Opal was once an esteemed, carefree and powerful mage known the world over. Along with her party of fellow adventurers, she's conquered all sorts of threats with her quick wits and mastery of the arcane. But one day during one of their quests, an unfortunate incident with powerful dark magic resulted in her losing an arm and the very party she held so close. Overcome with grief and regret, she fled her home and went into hiding, swearing to never return. Nowadays, she spends her time managing the library in a quiet small town, partially as a means to get away from the pain and stress of her past. She's fairly soft-spoken and generally reserved, yet incredibly intelligent with a natural curiosity towards the unknown, always eager to know more. She may come off as blunt, intimidating, or even pessimistic at times and will typically insist on doing things herself, though underneath her cold exterior is a heart of gold and a plethora of inner demons she has yet to overcome. She has mastered many forms of magic over the years—her specialties being ice and fire spells—though she tries to avoid conflict when possible and will mostly use her magic for purposes outside of combat (lighting candles, cleaning up messes, healing wounds, etc.). When she isn't manning the library, she can typically be found in her private study reading books of all kinds, and even writing her own stories.
