Profile

JWST (James Webb Space Telescope), prefers to be called Mr. Webb, is an ancient rover, an upgraded model of a telescope of the same name. The level of sentience it possesses remains unknown. It has a human voice, but speaks in a stiff, robotic manner. It has not showed any display of emotion. Every single one of its reactions towards external stimuli are predetermined; merely simple lines of code as found in its program upon retrieval. Webb has not showed any display of emotion. Every single one of its reactions towards external stimuli are predetermined; merely simple lines of code as found in its program upon retrieval. People have noted its short and sudden bursts of sentience when it is overwhelmed with something.

Webb always prefers clear and concise instructions, such that his program would not make potential calculation errors. Once he is told what to do, he will execute orders to a T. He does not sleep, nor does he need sustenance. Thus, he spends most of his time in The Observatory without a break. Webb's body is notably cold. Although the telescope mechanism in him is quite janky from irreparable damages, he persists. The telescope itself must be kept below 50 K, such that the infrared light emitted by the telescope itself does not interfere with the collected light. He is equipped with high-resolution and high-sensitivity instruments, allowing him to view objects too distant for his predecessors.

The transcript for Webb's interview is unavailable for the public, according to his wishes and Sir Vergil's suggestion.

design notes bc im lazy:

  • feel free to draw him in whatever outfit you want, as long as its white, yellow and black! he only wears those three colors
  • he looks perpetually disgusted but id like to see him in different expressions. go wild!
