  • Cocktail drinks, dinner parties (so much for disdaining hedonism...)
  • Punctuality, "proper etiquette"
  • Her hat
  • Smooth jazz, "classy" music (she'd probably like Luxury Elite)
  • Woamn 🤤
  • Slacking off, "laziness"
  • Fatalism, defeatism
  • "Coarse, unrefined" things (cheap wine, probably most mainstream music)
  • Planned obsolescence (the practice of designing products with a purposefully short life, or becoming outdated soon)
PERSONALITY

  • Fairly charismatic at first glance. Depending on your attitude towards her beliefs, though, that charm may not last long.
  • Stubborn as all hell. If she puts her mind to something, you will not talk her out of it. Has worked both in and against her favour.
  • Has a very dry sense of humour; certainly the "deadpan snarker" type. Some people love it. Others are fed up with it.
  • Puts on a "sharp and formal" act almost all of the time. Reported to very rarely smile. Sometimes acts as the "drill sergeant nasty" type.
  • Supposedly a completely different person around women she considers "good-looking".
About

A steadfast, headstrong woman, Israfil's philosophy is guided by the principle that everyone has the same potential to achieve what she calls "eudaemonia"-- the state at which an individual is living as their greatest self. To her, there's no such thing as a "lost cause" or a "failure"; no matter who or where you are, you have the power to achieve your eudaemonia. She values diversity in skill and experience and believes in the importance of harmony and collaboration; having only a single definition for "strength" and alienating people would only cause certain people to feel as if they "aren't cut out for greatness"-- a very dangerous mindset, in her opinion.

However, she's nowhere near as inspiring or pleasant as she initially appears. A strict perfectionist and a total no-fun hard-ass, Israfil expects 110% out of everything and is extremely critical towards anyone displaying what she considers weakness: complacency, hedonism, fears of failure, and worst of all, the attitude of "I give up". She doesn't bother with gentle encouragement, either; she sees "signs of weakness" as mere problems to be solved with enough pressure, motivation, and hard work-- she absolutely isn't one for "taking it easy", which oftentimes only worsens the "weakness". (Not to mention she's a bit of a hypocrite too on her disdain for hedonism; just ask any of her mistresses.)

She works as a chairwoman for a tech company that makes products with the intent of helping more people achieve "eudaemonia" (she designed stuff to alleviate her photophobia and back pain, for example) and is generally fair-paying and honest, though she's got no problem sacking people and telling them to come back when they're more qualified. A fairly hard worker herself, though she suffers from undiagnosed ADHD and often beats herself up over not being as motivated as she wants herself to be.

She and her husband, another company owner, married each other chiefly out of financial stability and other business reasons, but despite not feeling much for each other romantically, they did respect each other and saw each other as good friends. (Her husband wasn't aware of all the women that his wife cheated on him with but he probably wouldn't really care.) Israfil, however, finds that her husband lacks the "leadership qualities" she wanted in a partner, namely, the drive and desire to create a better world.

Of course, her husband is dead. He died with a few secrets, though.

His company's research discovered that an apocalypse that would wipe out human civilization was imminent in a decade, a truth he kept from his wife out of fear she would work herself to death trying to prevent what he saw as the inevitable, while he focused on sweetening the world's final years.

It only took a change of hands in the company for Israfil to learn the truth. Now she's out to find the people to help her save the world, and no one will get in her way.

TRIVIA

  • Has albinism and suffers from photophobia as a result-- and thus she's almost always wearing her hat (and/or a sick pair of shades). When she does work involving or requiring (relatively) bright light, she puts on a special eyepiece to assist her; however, it still causes discomfort if worn for too long. Prefers to do work in short intervals spaced across the day.
  • Her cane helps a little with her back pain. It's also a secret firearm, though she prefers to use it as a melee weapon should she ever need to defend herself.
  • Has fox ears. She can move them around, but otherwise they don't do anything. Can't really be considered a fox, either; consider the ears a supernatural apparition indicative of her status as a former angel.
  • Interns and other new employees in her company are rumoured not to last very long.
