Rue was awoken inside a cave. A crystal cave. All hues of purple glowed in the dark, powerful aura emanating the room, overwhelming Rue. Beside her was Miru, evidently younger than her. She carried Miru out of the crystal cave, where they were met by many people. The cave mouth was surrounded by armored people with a insignia of some... Empire, armed to keep the crowd under control. "Help." Rue whispered to them before collapsing in front of them. Rue wakes up in a fancy-looking room, paintings hung up on the walls. Miru was sound asleep at the foot of the bed, curled up at Rue's feet. Rue experiences excruciating pain as she feels her forehead burn and feel like it was being carved. She soon realises that a crescent symbol had appeared on her forehead.

When Rue and Miru recovers, the Palace starts training them, not knowing that both individuals were Gods. Rue and Miru never had any parents, Rue was Miru's older sister, her only family. Rue took care of Miru, sneaking food in and helping her with her magic. Their swordmaster was their parental figure, often taking care of both of them, and were basically the parents that they never had. She gave Rue her weapon - a transformable staff, fueled by Rue's magic - by transferring her shapeshifting power to it. She also gave Miru her bow, and even enchanted it for her. When it was discovered that both were Gods, she never changed how she treated them. Now, she's one of Rue's and Miru's most respected advisors in their Council.

When they were residing in the Palace, they did not have a happy childhood. It wouldn't even be called a "childhood". They went through rigorous training every day, resulting with bruises and scratches littered around their body. They were constantly looked down on despite being "prized" as the royalty thought that they were special because of how they appeared from the crystal cave (they weren't wrong) Eventually, Rue reaches her breaking point - her chains snapped and she rampaged, using her God powers to freeze everyone as she destroyed the interior of the Palace, then takes Miru with her and escapes.

Thankfully, their swordmaster still continued taking care of them - bringing them food and clothes, while also providing them with shelter. She tried to give them a good remainder of their childhood by acting more like a motherly figure toward them - she taught them magic and life skills like reading, writing and cooking. They eventually had their own duties to fulfill as Gods thus they stopped living at the swordmaster's home but still visiting whenever they could. Rue also sent the swordmaster dreams of her and Miru occasionally, telling her how they were doing. Rue and Miru regarded her as their mother.
