Angelkind

Angels are one of the four main domains of Navitic beings - along with demons, fae, and monsters. Angels are distinct in that they form in the heaven dimension, and have free-flowing Navitas encircling them known as "halos." Halos are a sign of status, creed, and ID to angels - each angel's halo is unique. You cannot enter heaven unescorted without displaying your halo. Angels cast from heaven (this is known as falling, or being damned) will have their halos broken, or severed and confiscated.

There are nine ranks of angels, which could be considered their respective species, as there are features and abilities distinct to each class. The higher their rank, the closer in proximity they are to God, and the less likely they are to interact with lower beings outside of cosmically significant scenarios.

Angels are a hivemind, with the higher ranking ones being closer to the "hive" and therefor the most strongly influenced by it, and don't really have a "true" personality, as they exist to express the will of God, whereas lower ranking angels are less directly controlled and will have wiggle room unless the Will of God seizes them for a purpose. This makes them more frequent to fall, but also allows them to be more human-passing. They still operate on a script, and don't necessarily have true free will. However, if an angel believes they are following this script they can still end up doing things that could damn them.

For example, following protocol exactly can cause them to overlook some common sense things that could lead to them being punished, or if an angel is convinced they are acting in best interest for their kind/goal, they might uh. fuck up

For example, an angel might "team up" or fraternize with a demon in attempts to get what they deem crucial info from that demon, but in doing so, because they are putting the hive at risk by the demon being able to ALSO glean info from that angel, they will be damned for this.

Higher ranking angels rarely interact with humanity, unless that human is a Prophet with a capital P. They do not pass as human, even if following directions to a tee. They are difficult to contain to a human guise, for one thing. They might, at a passing glance, appear to have too many teeth. Maybe, sometimes as you turn your head, their eyes might appear without pupils. When their hands blur with movement it appears they might have too many fingers - but no, when you look, they have the normal amount. Of course they do.

More damning than that, though, is the aura they give off.

Everything around a high ranking angel appears impure by comparison. You will feel grotesque and filthy next to them, and increasingly aware of your flaws, your skin, the way your voice sticks in your throat. The world seems to dim around them, as as their divine light is spilling out, and looking at them directly seems to sting your eyes like staring into the sun.
