The King of Roses wears a crown of thorns
and lives by a white castle on the cliff.
Every night, the dragon descends upon him,
a maelstrom of bloody teeth upon his flesh,
and takes another piece away.
The roses weren't always red after all.
People fear that his sacrifice
will soon turn him into a demon,
but he brushes them away with a smile.
He is not afraid of demons, and he is not afraid of death.
