August is nothing short of a judgmental being. He's hard to impress, enjoys making snide remarks, and acting as though you're several hundred feet below him. He doesn't fancy meeting new people, nor is he interested in making friends and even enemies for that matter; he'd much rather spend his free time in solitude than picking fights and dabbling with unnecessary banter.

Not only is August hard to initiate a conversation with, but he's difficult to enjoy in the first place. Heaven knows every second wasted with those whom he considers imbeciles causes him to feel legitimately nauseous (I'm not talking figuratively here either—he will genuinely feel the need to vomit under undesirable conditions), but rest-assured, if he feels as though you're worthy of his time, he'll make this perfectly clear. He is also prone to expressing real embarrassment and perhaps even sheepishness in uncomfortable situations. This INTJ scarecrow has an uppity jerk complex and he's not afraid to embrace it wholeheartedly.

However, his attitude varies depending on whether he's manifesting his human form or not. That isn't to say he has a split personality, he just carries himself differently. When in human form, his confidence skyrockets, giving him the guts to speak his mind or shove you away from his personal space. When taking on scarecrow form, August is typically more of a keep-to-himself sort of person. He'll grow sick to his stomach if he's forced to so much as touch you.

HISTORY:
In Edinburgh, Scotland of 1991, a frumpy old farmer known only as "Farmer Sinclair" became increasingly popular across the continent thanks to his record-breaking vegetables. People from all over the country were vying to see man-sized watermelons and pumpkins amounting to the size of a car. He was a cheater though, that farmer, making himself famous by means of magic. In a universe where witchcraft is laughed upon but embraced by a small minority of the world, the farmer took to sewing his crops with a spellbinding dust that would soon bring him fame and fortune. The same dust that'd scattered his land was capable of not only enhancing the vivacity of his vegetation but the straw packed inside the scarecrows guarding his farm.

Nicknamed "August", the animate decoy spent a short amount of time haunting Farmer Sinclair's crops with very little interest in interacting with the other scarecrows. It wasn't until he met Murray that he begun to explore outside the limits of his comfort zone, hitching train rides and eventually freighters.

In recent times, thanks to an incident involving Bennett, the scarecrow has found himself on the lawn of Hiems Mansion.

MURRAY:
Murray, a small black crow who often takes to nesting in the scarecrow's hair, is August's friend, family, and conscience. Inhabiting his avian body is the spirit of a 30-year-old Black-British professor who had passed away circa 1990. By chance encounter, the magical properties of Farmer Sinclair's dust had swept over his wandering soul and encased the likes of a deceased crow. It wasn't until he'd crossed the scarecrow people that he found someone who could understand his caws, that is, aside from other crows. From then on, Murray has accepted his second chance at life and assumed the role as August's companion, educating him in all aspects of life including motor skills, social norms, and English. He sees August not only as a son but a younger version of himself and only wishes the best for him, no matter how much he likes to push his buttons.

► Crow Communication: He can communicate with crows, but it's ultimately up to the crow itself to communicate with him.

SKILLS:
► Reading, writing, sewing, and he's getting better at painting.

WEAKNESSES:
► Although his bodily makeup can withstand some shit, he is very susceptible to wear and tear, ripping, and drowning. He doesn't like taking advantage of his straw either, thanks to the pain it causes, so he'll only utilize it as a defense mechanism.
► He is unable to lift heavy objects, in fact, he's almost sickly weak in scarecrow form.
► His vision is absolutely terrible, hence his thick, oval glasses.

MISCELLANEOUS

► Brooding Scottish accent that lilts like crazy when he's being sarcastic.
► The body he manifests is permanently eighteen, making him immortal.
► He's somewhat of a classy bastard, "fuck" doesn't really play a major role in his vocabulary.
► Since there isn't a city surrounding this new home of his, I take it he travels to a different dimension to maintain his job at Starbucks LMFAO.
► He is asexual and doesn't even remotely think about romance. It's not impossible but he's pretty hellbent on keeping to himself for eternity.
► He doesn't need to eat in scarecrow form, but that doesn't stop him from enjoying the finer things life has to offer. When he consumes something, the food is processed into straw and added to his body mass; he, however, is capable of opening himself up and removing some of the excess straw. Although he'd probably experience less pain and maintenance manning his human form, he doesn't like the awkward bodily functions it introduces LOL.
