Pre "A realm reborn"

Laika Heart, a Roegadyn Sea Wolf, was born in the lush forests of Gridania to an Elzen merchant father and a retired Sea Wolf pirate mother. Despite her parents' frequent absences due to their maritime endeavors, Laika found solace and happiness in the embrace of Gridania and its people. She grew to love the serene beauty of the forest city, although a burning desire smoldered within her heart to follow in her parents' adventurous footsteps. They had always assured her that once she came of age, she would join them on their seafaring adventures.

Growing up without siblings of her own, Laika was usually left unsupervised so they occasionally got into trouble with the local guard, their youthful mischief leading to a few stern reprimands. Life in Gridania carried on peacefully until the fateful day when the news of her parent's tragic death at sea reached her. A sudden and violent storm had claimed their lives, leaving her shattered. The word "crushed" couldn't begin to capture the depths of her grief. At just the brink of adulthood, she found herself orphaned and thrust into the harsh reality of life on her own.

Bereft and unable to fathom moving forward, Laika felt her parents' presence in every corner of Gridania. She made a swift, impulsive decision to pack her most cherished belongings, sell the rest, and embark on a journey to Limsa Lominsa, her late mother's hometown. In Limsa, she inadvertently crossed paths with a nimble-fingered thief, who took advantage of her disorientation. Her heart pounding with determination, she chased after the thief and found herself in the presence of the Thieves' Guild.

Fate works in mysterious ways, and one thing leads to another. Laika, under the watchful eye of Jacke Swallow, the guild's master, found herself joining their ranks. Seeing a young Sea Wolf, clearly new to the bustling city and bewildered, Jacke extended an offer of shelter and protection instead of the cold steel of a blade to her throat. Grateful for his kindness, she couldn't accept it without giving something in return, and so, at the age of 18, she made the decision to join the Adventurers' Guild.

Over time, Laika worked tirelessly, honing her combat skills alongside Jacke, mastering the art of the blade and stealth. However, fate had something grander in store for her. A calling from Hydaelyn beckoned her, and after much contemplation, she resolved to accept this daunting responsibility head-on. With nothing left to lose, she cast aside her former identity and adopted a new name - Laika Heart. Her journey, like the tides, carried her forward into the unknown, her heart brimming with determination and a sense of purpose as she embarked on a new chapter in her life.
