susanna is a former marine biologist and current avatar of the vast.

she grew up on florida's atlantic coast and became interested in marine science from a young age; no one was surprised when she pursued it for college. while studying in the sargasso sea, a diving incident left her stranded apparently at the bottom of the sea - when she resurfaced, she became obsessed with figuring out what happened to her and, gradually, how to return to it. she believes there to be some strange truth deep underwater and is fervent in her newfound pursuit of it.

after almost a year of trying to get back into the ocean, she's violently killed when she commandeers a submarine and takes it past crush depth. after this point she ascends to avatarhood.

she feeds the vast by screwing with sub equipment.
