Summary

My Age of Tempest TTRPG character.

Hildegund was just returning to her home for a visit after years of being away, when everything went wrong. Her parents: dead. Her sister: missing. Her childhood nemesis/sweetheart/it's-complicated: turned evil. Her country: now ruled by evil sorcerer-emperor. Hildegund ends up joining group of rebels known as Green-hoods, and soon becomes their only hope.

Design notes

  • Always wears the necklace she's pictured with. Its design is based on her family's crest.
  • Hildegund is tall for a woman, she's eye-to-eye to most men.
  • Usually dresses like men do. You can take inspiration from 1300s European clothes but generic fantasy clothes are also okay.
  • She has a signet ring that is a sign of her noble blood. Whenever she's not wearing an armor she puts the signet ring on.

Personality

Technically speaking Hildegund is heroic character, but that is technically speaking. Her utter lack of social skills and underestimating her own physical power have led to many not-so-heroic events. Things are only worse when she's tired. Once Hildegund literally threatened to drown a whiskerling (think Redwall-style animal-people) because he wouldn't just tell her where a powerful witch lives. And her ideas about how staalos, oppressed species, should help the rebellion to put a friendly ruler to the throne and then manipulate them wasn't exactly the most heroic one either. But Hildegund tries to do good, she really does. She's ready to put her own feelings aside if the cause is good enough.

Hildegund may not be street-smart but she is pretty book smart. However most of her knowledge is outdated and when she was studying she rarely thought critically about what she was reading. Hence some of her ideas about the world can be pretty funny.

Relationships

Older sister
anon.png

Because they spent so much of their childhood apart Hildegund and Freidis were never really close. They still care about each other. Some other younger siblings are jealous of older ones, especially when the older ones inherit all the titles and land, but Hildegund is actually happy that she can have more free life. Or that was the plan. When hildegund returned home she discovered her parents are dead and Freidis has disappeared. Now it's up to Hildegund to find her.

It's complicated
anon.png

When Hildegund and Julius were children they seemed to be each others worst enemies, but actually that was part of the playful relationship they had. When they got older many thought that they'd become a couple. However they both acted very tsundere towards the other so that didn't happen.

When Hildegund spent years travelling around the world she often thought about him fondly. Part of her thought that perhaps when she returned home they could finally discuss their relationship like adults. But when Hildegund returned she found out that Julius had become the Emperor's loyal knight. So they became each other's worst enemies. Still Hildegund wishes that she could just talk to him to find out why he did what he did.

Confidant

After Hildegund saved Tulus from a cave invaded by bandits they have became friends. It took Hildegund months to tell him that she works for Green-hoods and even that confession was done only because the situation was dire. Initially Tulus was angry at her for keeping a secret like that, but eventually he came around and even joined the Green-hoods. Unfortunately some months later Julius managed to capture all Green-hoods (except Hildegund), including Tulus. Now it's just matter of time before Tulus gets executed unless he either manages to escape or Hildegund can save him.

Trivia

  • According to behindthename.com name "Hildegund" comes from old German words "battle" and "war", which is very fitting but also totally accidental.
  • Technically speaking she should be addressed as lady Hildegund Falka, but since she doesn't care that much about titles no one is required to do so. Unless she wants to make a point (usually to other nobles).
