About

Kieran is a gentle giant of a man who immigrated from Ireland when he was a child after losing his parents during the Troubles. He was raised by his wealthy aunt and uncle, a restaurant owner and a lawyer, respectively. Motivated by his past, he decided to go into the medical field. In college he got married, and within a couple of more years, he landed the job of an ER surgeon. His daughter, Rosie, was born when he was thirty-one. Three years later, a car crash took his wife and messed up his left knee. Nevertheless, he's a good man who only wants to help people.

Kieran's heart is too big for the modern world. He yearns to help people, to save them, even when he knows he can't. At the same time, he's rather nonconfrontational and will do almost anything to avoid arguments with people he is fond of. His empathy knows no bounds and he's known throughout the hospital for being a good person to calm trauma patients. He adores children to pieces and his daughter is the best thing in his life. He likes to laugh and makes Dad jokes sometimes. At the same time, he's a rather intense lover and (unknowingly) possessive. While he craves romance and domesticity, he's anything but vanilla when it comes to sex.

He was a big part of the punk rock scene in the 1990s and still listens to the music of that era. He used to have his tongue pierced but had to remove it for work, though he left his ears pierced. He loves reading, but work keeps him from sitting down to read as much as he'd like. He has a major sweet tooth even though he tries to resist it and usually he has rich food hidden in the kitchen so his daughter can't get into it. He loves to sleep in whenever possible, though those times are rare. He does his best to keep his house in a decently clean state despite having a five-year-old daughter and her gaggle of toys everywhere. He's way more familiar with Disney movies than he would like to be. He learned how to braid hair after his wife died, if only to help ease the reality of the situation. He tries his best to be an active part of her life even if his work makes it difficult.

Appearance

Kieran is tall and broad, standing at 6'4" and making regular visits to a gym. He dresses very well even outside of work, though underneath those sleeves are sleeve tattoos leftover from his younger days. The long hours at work mean that he's usually at least stubbly, although he normally lets it grow for a couple of days before bothering to shave. His complexion is what is typically expected of Irishmen, pale and faintly freckled. His hair is more red than orange, and it's natural, no matter how it looks. His eyes are hazel, but really more green than brown. He likes red (it matches his hair) and the metal frames of his glasses reflect that, along with a good portion of his wardrobe. His left knee is scarred from multiple surgeries and he's supposed to use a cane, which he normally refuses to use unless it's a dire emergency.
