Greatest Strength

His never-ending wish to stand out and be praised enhances his creativity. He's never out of ideas, whether it's to build an item to answer a specific situation, or to find ways to convince people to go his way. He never lets a failure stop him from moving forward and reach the desired outcome.

Greatest Weakness

He does not have any real friends and it is easy to make anyone turn against him : by wanting everyone's approval, he always ends up going against his current acquaintances' values and beliefs, or somehow befriending their enemies. It only takes a little digging up to make someone want to throw Lys to the wolves.

Never-ending imagination ; he's hard-working and extremely patient : he'll do what it takes to achieve his goals ; he's resourceful and he can adapt quickly to any situation ; funny and can somewhat read the room so his jokes rarely ever off the mark ; brave and resilient.

Very talkative and quite flirtish... yet extremely private : he never talks about how he feels or what he really thinks about ; stylish, cares a lot about his appearance ; ambitious and independant ; often contradictory in his way to act, speak and interact with others.

Negative Traits

Completely lacks empathy because he is so self-centered and will only do things in order to gain something from them ; jealous, he also holds grudges really easily and will try to get some sort of revenge somehow ; manipulative and deceitful ; constantly looking for other people's attention.

You have nothing on them and I have no use for you.

Lysander is the last of the seven brothers Alendìr, sons of the satyr Tobias and the dryad Zinnia. Despite being born in a rather big family, he grew up feeling quite lonely as he was constantly disregarded, for his brothers were better than him at everything and nobody had the time to take care of him. Oh, no one hated him, but he wasn't loved either and it influenced a lot the way he developed during his childhood, as he kept trying to find new ways to get his family's attention and validation.

These circumstances made Lys a rowdy child, prone to do stupid and dangerous things in the hope that it might impress his relatives. Nothing else mattered to him as he did not understand why he was treated differently, despite trying his best. It wasn't uncommon to see him challenge other younglings to some crazy adventures or even to catch him red-handed from stealing someone... He actually never really learned right from wrong, or to care about other people's feelings.

Let me give you a reason to believe that I can stand tall.

Things started to change for Lys when he stumbled across a caravan of craftsmen travelling through the High Forest, and notably the old toymaker Asahel. He had great skills and the finest way to carve wood and incorporate subtle pieces of metal to it. His toys were the most delightful items the little satyr had ever seen and he was enchanted by the elder's work. He managed to persuade him to take him as an apprentice, certain that if he learned to make such wonderful objects he'll finally make his family proud, and left the forest with the caravan, to his new master's side.

Despite his chaotic nature, the young Lys was a good learner and completely invested himself into his apprenticeship. He soon became very good at the craft and his admiration for Asahel never stopped growing. The old master was the only person able to make him focus and hone his patience and sense of detail. Thanks to him, Lysander found himself in this path and was able to create beautiful creatures of wood and steel, practically summoning them to life.

I come complete and invincible behind my dirty imbecile.

After a few years of making toys, Lysander decided it was time for him to make something more spectacular and directed his work towards the making of automatons. He made a name for himself with it and people would come from afar to admire and buy his creations. But along the way, he met a drunk elf — whose name he didn't quite catch — who taught him more about magic and how to incorporate it into objects. He never saw them again after that one night, but the spark had been ignited...

From there, his journey to become an artificer began. He mostly studied by himself, seeing — feeling even — what worked and what didn't. He made a point to create dedicated automatons for specific purposes: for example he'd make a little bird of metal to carry a message, or a few fireflies to which he'd infuse light... He was having fun with it and he took great pride in his creativity and skills! He would rather die than admit it to anyone else, but he felt it was the only thing he was really good at...

I'm a man, I'm a twisted fool

It wasn't in his workshop, away from the crowd that Lysander was going to appear extraordinary to others, no matter what wonders he could create. It was out there, on the field. He was absolutely sure of it and so he set out in search of adventures. It was then that he heard about the priest Berand, who needed an escort throughout the frozen lands of Kuldarith to trade a sacred relic against antic scrolls with locals... Lys didn't look into details much, a quest on a far away land would be a great place to begin, right? With four other adventurers, he sailed away. As it turned out, the whole mission was a scam and they learned the hard way that Berand never needed them. First of all, they did not get paid. But more importantly, they were left out on the island, during the Big Wave season : every year, a massive wave would completely cover the island's main city and all trades were stopped during that time, as villagers left their city to hide in the mountains. They'd only come back in spring, once the water levels dropped...

Many things happened to them during the winter, but people would mostly remember them for the bearberry event : that plant weighed its weight in gold but was terribly hard to find, yet our adventurers harvested an entire bag of them and basically gifted them to the city! The locals were delighted that out of all people that could have end up being stranded on their island, such great individuals were. They made a point to provide them with comfortable housing, food and friendship! As of present the group was in Naasdarith, another village located a day's walk away, waiting for Chalem : a whaler who is supposed to have informations they're after...

Lysander's only goal in life is to be remarkable, to stand out, to be praised for the extraordinary satyr that he is. He unsurprisingly does not care much about others, whom he mostly considers a means to an end. Rare are the people who get to stay nearby...
