Profile
Alastair Charlain
The Hand of the Rightful Crown
Shrouded in the Light of Clairvoyance
One of the most notable members of the Everlight Council, the Chancellor is a mysterious man who carries with him an air of regality and mystery. Part of this status can be traced back to his role as a Primus of Clairvoyance - the only one currently known to have received Mythalis' favourable gaze. The other part is secrecy he shrouds himself in; despite the fact that he has always acted with the best interests of the Everlight in mind, he no doubt has another motive. As advisor to the crownbearer of the fallen kingdom Draeneryth, he seeks to use his position of power to restore his liege to his rightful place.
Notes
- Within the Everlight, he is only addressed as "The Chancellor". No one knows his real name except for other Draenerythians.
- The Chancellor, like most Draenerythians, carries an ancient Monolithian protection that grants him extended life. However, the Everlight believes that he is only in his 40s. As such, he has limited time to put Aslan back into power before his identity is compromised.
- He is the only known Primus of Clairvoyance, but not the only one to exist. The favourable gaze of the Echelon Mythalis has granted him the ability to invoke and influence thoughts, as well as direct mind and body control over others. This makes him one of the most powerful people within the Everlight, and arguably across the world.
- Unlike most of the Everlight Council, the Chancellor chooses to protect himself and carries his Ravenblood Sword with him at all times. Many would find this odd, but few dare to question someone of his status.

Glory Where the Light Lies
A strategist, brilliant tactician, and incredible leader, Alastair started out within Draeneryth as a mere soldier who worked his way up the ranks and earned the favour of the former king. Having seen the potential within Alastair, the king assigned him to be a mentor, personal guard, and eventual advisor to his son, Aslan. Once Aslan took the crown of Draeneryth, Alastair would be promised a position as his right hand man. He faithfully accepted his duty, and helped to guide Aslan throughout his adolescence and prepare him for his eventual duty as the next ruler of Draeneryth.
Sorrow Where the Light Dies
When the Rift War broke out, not a single kingdom nor nation was spared from participating in the war. As the battle shifted from fighting the riftmonsters over the years to having to fight neighbouring regions in order to protect quickly depleting resources, Draeneryth found itself pushed back further and further from its territory. A small kingdoms amidst greater states could only do so much to protect itself as others around became more and more desperate for already scarce resources, and Draneryth was forced to retreat further and further. Even as his friends and community crumbled around him, Alastair focused himself on protecting prince Aslan and princess Asterope, and at the advice of the Monolith guards, moved to the caves underneath the palace.
As the war came to its explosive end, the sacrifice made by the Everlight caused a massive outburst of energy as the first Echelons came into being, and destroyed almost everything around it on the surface - Draeneryth included. The only people to survive the birth of the Echelons were those who had gone underground to hide. Alastair, Aslan, Asterope, several Monolith guards, and a few hundred other Draenerythians were able to survive the Echelons, though at the time they did not know that the Everlight had been the cause of the final destruction above ground. It was only after things had settled, and cautious investigations above ground began, that the truth became revealed to Alastair, and it planted a seed of anger within him. With nothing left of Draeneryth and the blooming growth of the Everlight, Alastair promised to fulfil his duty and grant Aslan a nation worthy of his rule - the Everlight itself.
Favour from the Eye of Mythics
As the Echelons established their domains and began to reach outwards in search of those worthy of their gaze, Alastair, now having entered the Everlight as an unknown and nameless citizen, found himself reached out to by the Echelon of Clairvoyance, Mythalis. He was granted a part of their power, which gave him the ability to invoke thoughts, alter minds, and control those with wills weaker than his. With this newfound power, he was able to infiltrate deep into the Everlight, and place himself on the Council as a mysterious figure known only as "The Chancellor". Many of the Council who came before him had his powers used upon them, forcing them to believe he had always been there, and those who would come after would never suspect him as otherwise.
Shrouded From The Everlight
Today, the Chancellor is one of the Everlight's most well-known councilmen. It is no secret that he is the Primus of Clairvoyance, and the Everlight believes him to be their faithful guide to a brilliant future. All the while, he works in the darkness and pulls a thousand strings; all to ensure that Aslan's throne and crown will be secured and waiting for him to bear once more.
