Story Summary

Junkertown Brat

Vicky was born November 19th, 2052.

Her father, Andrew Costello, was a fervent anti-Omnic scholar in Australia, as the country was tossed about in socio-economic turmoil following the Crisis. He was one of the leading figures of the Australian Liberation Font who fell from grace as soon as the attack on the Omnium was attempted and failed. She barely knew her mother, as she had abandoned her and her father following his failures.

At the age of 5, after a year of living in hiding with her father, he brought her to Junkertown, believing that living among Junker renegades would be a less worse situation for his daughter than subjecting her to a life on the run.

While Vicky had often been lumped with the other junker kids, she had grown with a superiority complex. Her father had taught her to read fluently from a young age and she had taken a liking to parroting whatever radical ideas she had learnt from him.
She didn’t have many friends but it could be said that while most people, children and adults alike, didn’t like her… It wasn’t like they treated her as badly as they treated her father, who was considered a pariah in Junkertown.

She had a friend. Just one. She believed it was enough.

Trivia & Notes

1nKoQEO.png
  • Vicky is surprisingly well-read... By Junkertown standards. Thanks to her father, she was taught how to read relatively fluently from a young age, and she was able to enjoy books in the comfort of her and her father's barracks while most of the other kids her age were used as scavengers. She enjoyed most of her father's book collection, including works such as Animal Farm, Brave New World, and The Stranger.
  • She can kind of sing. Her voice is a rather throaty contralto and she's best at folk-type songs and ballads. She also vaguely knows her way around a guitar, and while she couldn't read sheet music, she knows the tabs to the few songs she'd want to play.
  • Her weapon of choice is a crowbar. She was never good with projectiles, so she opted for a more aggressive, volatile fighting style.
  • Her guilty pleasure is fried bilby meat. She'll spend most of her winnings on food from Koka's Take Away, whenever she can. Even when she can't, she'll find a way to swindle her way to getting her fix.

Relationships

R17PqIz.jpg

Andrew 'Fearmonger' Costello

[ father ]

Despite him being a miserable old alcoholic, Vicky loves her father dearly. She firmly believes she owes him everything and cares deeply for his wellbeing. The affection is mutual, as he loves her just as much- unfortunately, he seems to have become quite distant and neglectful over the years...

Jamison 'Junkrat' Fawkes

[ childhood friend ]

Vicky knew Junkrat when they were both still children running about Junkertown. Their friendship was more of an alliance of misfits, if anything, and they remained friends through their teenage years. They lost touch when they became adults, as Vicky was exiled before Junkrat was.

The Queen

[ one-sided rival ]

A mixture of utter hatred and jealousy is what could describe Vicky's feelings for the Queen of Junkertown. On one hand, she reviled her for treating her father as a pariah and exiling her- on the other, Vicky thought she'd look better than the Queen did, sitting on that throne of hers...
