Burnish

Burnish is a carefree rabbit who spends her days digging and exploring. She's next in line to lead, but doesn't want the job. She doesn't want to give up her lazy lifestyle. Some of the rabbits doubt her future leadership potential, especially because of her bright colors. But Burnish can tone down her colors at will, becoming pure silver in color, then lighting herself up again so a threat targets her and leaves the rest of the warren alone. Danger thrills her, and opinion is split on whether this makes her heroic or reckless. True, she's saved many a rabbit by using herself as bait, and her tremendous speed has so far kept her safe, but what would the warren do if she did perish? She's too young to yet have a successor. Others point out that, being rabbits, any of them could be taken at any time, and more than one successor should be named. Not because they think Burnish is reckless, but because even with their luck they still lose rabbits every year (usually the very young or old).

Burnish doesn't want any part of that. She just wants to sniff the leaves, nibble berries, and dig new tunnels for the new mothers. Despite her recklessness, she cares deeply for almost every rabbit (though there are some she would gladly leave for a hawk).
