History

Before coming to Snaktooth, Smitty was a young entomologist who had written a few papers, but was still making a name for themselves. They were very close with Frodo, who has just received the invitation to Snaktooth, but declined it due to uninterest. Smitty offered to go in his place, fascinated by the concept of bugsnax and looking to study them while also getting Frogberts interview in the process. After arriving in Snaxburg, woozy from a fall onto a rock after Mothza Supreme destroyed their airship, they agreed to help Filbo return everyone back.

Not allergic or immune to the side effects or eating bugsnax, Smitty's interest in catching them became more of an obsession, especially when it came to the legendary snax. To Smitty, the legendary Snax represented their own recklessness and mistakes, especially mothza supreme, the one that destroyed their airship. This also intensified after they attempted to fight mothza, and picked up a bombino, unaware of their explosive qualities. After that, they agreed to take a break from catching anything aside from the bare minimum the town would need. During this, they also theorised that they probably shouldn’t really be eating the bugsnax, as there was probably a reason that they look so much like grumpus food, this suspicion was backed up by the visit to Broken Tooth. After Smitty, Filbo and Eggabell go to rescue Lizbert and fight back against the attacking Bugsnak, they managed to escape with everyone safely. Back on the mainland, they are dealing with quite a bit of guilt due to feeling like the main reason everyone had access to so many bugsnax, as well as the stress and rush of the final battle flaring up some heart issues they’ve always had, Smitty is very shaken up, but rather slowly starting to build themselves back up again.

Personality

Rather quiet, and not a very big presence unless the situation calls for it, Smitty seems to react to most things with a detached amusement. They generally prefer to work alone and can spend days just out in the different biomes just watching and observing. Though usually solitary, they do enjoy working with the others, and are rather nosy, so while they won’t ever instigate drama, they seem to manage to always be about when it occurs. Even while talking to others, Smitty seems to be distracted, wandering around or fiddling with something. They do tend to get slightly frustrated sometimes, but are passive enough to never really care that much. Smitty is also massively fond of the bugsnax, and despite a vague awareness of how this is probably a bad idea, they can't help but keep multiple pets, as well as spend a large amount of time studying how they behave and act.
