♞ raveneyes

born from a rare mix of parents within the dunes as the pair's only kit. their mother is a night centric cat, while their dad is from the day group of cats. due to the totally opposing schedules they rarely got to see their father growing up. mixed group mates are rare, but even rarer are kits born with mixed fur. raven had this exact issue, their fur making them stand out no matter what group they wanted to mingle in.

their mother rarely gave them anything more than what was required for them to survive. every cat surrounding them discriminated against them because of their unnatural fur. the only cat they found respite in was their grandma, a night cat and mother to raven's own mom. she took raven in and cared for them when no one else did.

since the dunes focus so heavily on day and night cats and their hunt schedules, raven was left no room to take the path of a warrior. their fur made them stick out instead of blend in like the other cats. they were forced into the path of a healer, the night healer taking them as an apprentice. they developed a love for the strange crystals and rocks that the Astraea brought as trading material. every time the traveling cats came to stay, raven went to them for guidance. one particular Astraea cat stepped up to be their mentor in the path of spiritual healing, even against the dune's distrust for the strange healing methods.

midway through their apprenticeship their parents had another kit, a younger sister. kestrel was born with entirely dark fur, except for around one eye, which was easy to cover up. instantly all of the love and attention raven craved was given to kestrel. their younger sister could be the warrior they never even had the chance to be.

raven was given their full name, raveneyes, upon becoming a full healer. the only problem? their spot as the next night healer was promised to another apprentice. the dunes cats didn't trust in their abilities and took the job they forced on raven away. raven was full of so much anger towards the cats around them and jealousy towards their younger sister that they turned away from the cats around them. they ignored everyone and focused more and more on the healing abilities they learned from the Astraea. their grandma was the only cat they still intereacted with.

they watched as their grandma deteriorated due to poor health as time passed. raven tried everything they could, tried using every healing ability they knew. but nothing worked. their grandma passed away and the dunes cats turned on them even more. they were blamed for the death. the cats claimed their crystals and rocks had actually poisoned their grandma and caused her to perish faster. as soon as raven got the opportunity to leave and join the prophecy group, they took it and have never looked back.
