The Soulseeker

The Soulseeker is an enigmatic Karasito who acts as a primary antagonist throughout most of the Alter Timeline, though in reality he is working for much more dangerous masters. Formerly an Arbitrator-- that is to say, a sort of Demon-sanctioned lawyer sent to deal with problems-- the Soulseeker cut himself free by surgically removing the contract he had with the Demons from his soul, and escaped the influence of Hellspace with Jack Evans. The pair later ventured to Rinul, where the Soulseeker assisted Jack of Hearts with the planet's destruction in exchange for power and a new contractee in Aravera Calpurnia.

A master almaturgist, or one who works magically with souls, the Soulseeker specializes in contracts and soul-binding effects, as well as inhibiting the owner of the soul by damaging or otherwise interacting with it. He also is known for creating "Legion Golems", constructs of Mana which use an extracted soul as a power source. Having taken an interest in Euthora's dragons and the spiritual "code" embedded into them that allows for the creation and spawning of a Phasma, after much experimentation and wrangling of a select few choice contracts, the Soulseeker seems to have mastered the technique necessary for forcing a dragon's soul to "activate" the Phasma, guaranteeing one spawns after the dragon dies.

The Soulseeker's contracts are binding, even to himself, and are curse-like in structure, giving them a degree of deleterious permanence that makes them incredibly difficult to remove. Having the manipulation, coercion, and negotiation skills of an expertly-trained lawyer, the majority of his contracts employ loopholes and wording that make them extremely one-sided in his favor.
