Chester Welson

Chester is a -very- difficult and dangerous person - and that is easy to see. From his prominent scar on his forehead going into his hairline, his sharp teeth, or his dark, edgy and often hooded clothing are all signs to keep as far away as possible from this badger. And if that is not enough, then his muzzle-like facemask might give you the right idea. Chester might be smaller than most men perhaps, but he is buff and very compact. His body doesn't look like it, but there is pure muscle beneath the fur. Chester likes to make sure that people respect him. His entire bodylanguage says "don't mess with me". If anyone reads it wrong, they will end up in trouble very soon. If he is truly angry, his back fur will raise and poof up to make him look bigger.

This honey badger has a very strong opinion about (catholic) religion and shows it openly - from his tattoo on his arm to anti-religious symbols on clothes or jewelry. He stands his point proudly, eventhough it might not be obvious to anyone right away.

It does not take much to get an understanding on what Chester is like: He is a sadistic and manipulative asshole. He is not out to make friends and his actions underline it to make it clear to anyone. Chester strifes to be feared and respected by others. He seems completely unnapproachable and violent without any reason. New people have a hard time to get into his life without getting their guts punched out first. This badger does not care about what others say or think - if they dare to confront him about anything, it will be their loss, not his. Chester is absolutely unafraid to get into fights with people bigger or stronger than him. In a nutshell: Chester is the embodiment of the "don't give a fuck"-honey badger. Chester is VERY resistent to pain and therefore often wins fights by simply ignoring his defense and taking punches without even flinching. Chester is extremely strong and sturdy, often surprising bigger enemies with his incredible resilience. Chester doesnt loose - he either lets someone win or he won't. He only ever had to admit one defeat - and that was when he got his scar on his forehead and ended up in prison.

While he does lack empathy for other people completely, it is not like he wants to be enemy with everyone. Despite his asshole attitude, there are a few types of people that he seems to have a liking for. Chester has a rather high need for recognition thanks to his past, and therefore he cannot get enough attention from anyone who looks up or respects him. Of course not any kind of person would look up to someone like Chester. But especially people that are easy to manipulate are probably Chesters favourite kind of people. Those who listen to him and his 'teachings', those who fall for his tricks and get weak at his orders. Chester loves having the upper hand and he wallows in the esteem of others looking up to him... or fearing him. Anyone who feeds Chesters god-complex might end up on his good side, even if his good side only meant more negative attention towards the victim. But those who make it so rewarding for him to manipulate them... those will suffer the most in the end.

Speaking of manipulation - Chester is maybe not the best with throwing around fancy words and sounding eloquent, but he does have his ways to get under one's skin. He likes watching people, outright stalking them when they catch his attention. He learns of their waeknesses and secrets and effectively uses them against them. He tries to warp the thinking of his victims to match his own, effectively making them his prisoners, blackmailing them into giving themselves to him. He often talks people into dangerous situations, pushing them to go beyond ther comfort zone, and then praise them for obeying. He is effectively conditioning the people around him to not defy him and obey to his commands. He knows how to give praise and how to reward others into following his example, and how to severely punish them for disobeying.

All of his personality traits stems from his background. His parents were part of a christian sect, the "Opus Sanctorum Angelorum", which meant that Chester grew up with a lot of religious influence. He was forced to participate in the sects rituals, he read the bible at a young age and he was constantly pushed to join in those very extreme believes. But as Chester grew older, he started to defy the orders and therefore quickly became the scapegoat of the family and entire sect - most literally. Chester escaped the sects grasp and nearly died in the process - and this deeply influenced Chesters personality. His view on religion is severely twisted, he immediately gets furious if anyone tries to mention it around him. But at the same time, Chester cannot let go of the religious influence and turns it into dark anti-religious speeches and metaphors. And nothing brings him more pleasure than people changing their minds about their believes to listen to Chester instead. He sees himself as the "preacher of truth", somewhat creating his own little dark religion all for himself.

Camael Welson was born in Eustis (Florida, USA) as the only child of Liam and Julia Welson. His parents, Liam and Julia, were very catholic-religious. No, they were not just religious - they were fanatic. They were high members of the very small sect "Opus Sanctorum Angelorum" that had found its way to little old Eustis. The sect started harmlessly enough, having its roots in Europe and claiming to be 'oriented towards the holy deeds of the angels'. However, all it took was one fanatic leader to bring the once holy believes into cult territory. Chester grew up in a strict, unforgiving environment, being forced to follow his parents in their beliefs from the beginning. As a child he did not really grasp the meaning of everything, he did not understand why he had to read the bible over and over again, why he had to dance and sing songs all the time. However, the virtues that he had been taught proved to be the 'right thing', as caretakers and teachers praised the good behaviour of young Chester.

But as all young children, Chester was bound to develop his own mind and opinion. He started to ask questions, he started to raise objections - and he started to become more and more angered by the fact that he was not given any space to develop freely. All the young badger wanted was to find himself, to live through puberty like other boys - but he was immediately severely punished for "thinking outside the box" and "letting the devil cloud his mind with nonesense". And the more his parents (and the rest of the cult) tried to push Chester to fit their normes, the more they angered the teenage boy, who started to rebell. He started to go out partying, drinking alcohol, he started to do smoke cigarettes, take drugs, he started to steal. The angrier his parents became, the bigger was the victory for Chester.

It was bound to escalate. The more they watched Chester rebell, the more they pinned him as the black sheep. The scapegoat. The leader began to suspect Chester to be an angel indeed - but a dark, wretched one. Chester was deemed to be Azazel - the fallen angel of sins. Having enough of Chester deying their rules, mocking their beliefs and breaking the law, they condemned Chester to be the *literal* scapegoat. They captured the just 16 year old boy, brought him to a remote, secret location, strapped him down, and spoke all their sins to him. But a true scapegoat would have to be sent into the desert to die, taking all the sins with him. To make sure Chester would not just walk away and live unscathed, the cult attacked him, jamming a dagger into his shoulder and dragging it down to make Chester bleed out. And then.. they let him run.

But Chester did not bleed out. He fought for his life and prevailed. Not looking back, he marched on and ran for his life. Too stubborn to ask for help, Chester healed up on his own. He got by by robbing peoples on the street, taking their money, and continuing to leave as far as he could. Chester eventually stopped in New York. Despite his hardships, he was feeling better than ever before. He was glad to have been set free. He could only laugh about what happened, wearing his scar with pride. If they wanted him to be Azazel - fine with him! If his only goal was carrying other people's sins, then he better made it count. With pride he got himself the most fitting tattoo, the sigil of the angel Azazel, and promised himself to live his life of sin to its full potential. He left his old first name Camael behind (which was a name for the angel of serenity and devotion) and took "Chester" as a more normal name.

After living his life of crime, living here and there or on the streets, it eventually happened. During a kidnapping scheme two very annoying detectives got in the way of things. Everything blew up and Chester ended up being struck down by some metal pipe by one of the detectives, and waking up... in prison hospital. Now with a big scar on his forehead, Chester faced prison time for 13 years for his involvement in the kidnapping. But that didn't bring Chester down. Prison, huh? Seemed like a fitting place for someone like him.
