Profile
Summary
Much like their names suggest, Wolfren are a friendly wolf-like creature that roam the realms of Lyth. They almost always travel in packs of at least two — average pack sizes are between five and eight — though their members do not necessarily have to all be Wolfren. Highly sociable and agreeable, even the most temperamental individuals form interspecies bonds easily. They get along very well with Igalyphs, who sometimes seek them out when they require raw digging power for excavations; this may seem odd, as Wolfren are so social and Igalyphs are so...not, but they make it work somehow. Lone Wolfren are rare and are usually only temporary, as they disperse from their original pack to form their own or join another one. It is said that multiple lone Wolfren sightings across a short period of time is a bad omen...
✦ Body
Wolfren are usually furred with a strong upper body. The length of their fur varies, but their coats are always thick, with many hairs per follicle. In addition, most Wolfren tend to grow a fluffy mane, though it's not impossible to find them without one; those with manes definitely have an advantage in the colder climates of Vulcareal. These canines are built to be both bipedal and quadrupedal, though most will default to all fours when speed is of the essence. When standing on their hind legs, they can appear quite large, reaching about six feet or more.
✦ Ears
Their ears are always floppy, though the length can vary; they can still perk their ears up and pivot them around. The floppiness does, however, slightly obscure their hearing, but they make up for it with a keen sense of smell!
✦ Teeth
Wolfren always have two protruding teeth, either from their upper jaw or lower jaw, resulting in an overbite or underbite. If removed, these new teeth grow back in their place. This durability coupled with the Lythians' massive jaw strength makes them very powerful hunters, fighters, and just workers in general.
✦ Claws
Instead of fingers, Wolfren have large foreclaws and an opposable thumb. Unlike the claws of most other Lythians, theirs are made from a special, incredibly hard material that makes them resistant to all elements. Therefore, if a Wolfren is born with dull claws, they have no means of sharpening them; they must seek out Chuikhas for help in superheating and reshaping their claws. Much like with Gryfons' helmets, Wolfren's claws can go through this process without causing the individual pain.
✦ Tail
Tails come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are clear indicators of how a Wolfren is feeling. It is harder to identify the moods of Wolfren who do not have them.

Baby Information
Baby Wolfren spend most of their early life with their ears flopped over their eyes. They do this because they want to hone their sense of smell and not rely completely on their eyesight, which is only average. These pups start off quadrupedal, walking around on their front claws that are currently still melded together, creating a flipper-like appendage. Upon reaching maturity, they'll naturally snap apart, becoming the finger-claws they'll use in their adult life.
✦ Baby Features
- Their ears are floppy and cover their eyes.
- Baby Wolfren all have manes, though some of them lose them as they age.
- Their foreclaws are attached to one another, so they can't properly hold things yet.
Origin Story & Quest
Heirocompan
There was once a lone creature on an empty tundra, ever wandering and silent. They grew ever more solemn and lonely, wishing for the companionship of another. Their pleas were heard by a long-lost Auirator, who granted them a friend. Evermore inseparable, Wolfren were born.
Young Wolfren may be cared for by groups of adults within their packs, while the child’s senses are still developing. The pups usually cover their eyes and, during this time, learn to use their other senses, as well as their elementally-protected claws and teeth. Those left on their own or with only one or two guardians may be thrust into learning these qualities more quickly than those within a group.
How does your Wolfren get around while their senses are developing? Are they a fan of digging with their shovel-esque claws, or do they have other interests? Please portray your Wolfren using their baby design or an adolescent design that’s not quite their adult form yet.
