Profile

Name: Ranic OCarp

Gender: Cis Male

Age: 46

Sexuality: Hetero, If it's girly he likes it.

Nationality: Riverkingdom

Birthplace: Outside of Lockridge in theRiverkingdom

Personality: Ranic is seen as very two faced. With Friends and neighbors he’s a friendly guy who is willing to help out other people and share drinks afterwards. But to his family he’s short tempered and very critical of others. He’s not very bright but he somehow always knows what to say to hurt a person. But if his words aren't enough he uses force to get his way. He knows enough that he shouldn't treat people this way, which is why he doesn't treat strangers harshly often. At the same time he doesn't know enough about treating your family any better than he does.

Once he starts getting closer to people his cruel and critical side slowly comes out. He truly believes that the way he treats others will help them grow as a person.

He may be harsh with people but he has a soft spot for animals. As he believes, unlike people animals don't need to grow and improve the way people need too. He can not stand people who hurt animals, even saying mean things to an animal is too much for him.

Occupation: Rancher

Biography: Ranic is a 18th generation Rancher, His familyline knows nothing else. He was raised as harshly as he raised his kids. Being wacked whenever he made the wrong move while working. Being yelled at every other moment. Knowing nothing better, it's the way he treats his family. Growing up the only break he had was his hobby of leatherworking. His father made fun of him for wasting time detailing the leather with designs, rather than being able to make more leather projects during the day.

Being the only Son of his family he took the farm when his father died. Having a hard time running the ranch alone he rushed into getting married. Meeting Rayleen who came from a poor family, He seduced her by promising her the riches that come from Raising Cattle for leather and meat; And gifting her beautiful leather boots and a leather vest that he made himself. Things were good at first. But with the stress of getting the ranch to make as much money as it used to, Ranic began to take his stress out on Rayleen. What once was a good life started to become an okay one, and when the kids came the abuse and stress made life harsh.

The more money that came in, the more Ranic wanted to control his wife and kids in order to keep this income coming. Forcing his way to young kids to learn how to tan leather with dangerous chemicals. Making his wife do jobs that she was too unskilled for or simply too weak to do. But the money kept her from leaving. Being able to buy more than just the bare minimum to live almost justified this life in Rayleen’s eyes.

But everyone has their limits. Forcing his family to do back breaking labor and abusing them when they weren't doing so. Ranic was the unknowing cause of Rayleen’s miscarage. What would have been the 3rd child in the family turned into the straw that broke the camel's back. Rumors about the miscarage started to go through town. The bruises on Rayleen were no longer seen as the mark of a hard working woman, but for what they really were. The mark of abuse. The true face of Ranic was starting to be known. For a few months Ranic tried to force the family together. But nothing he could do could hold his broken home together.

Ranic wasnt going to let his Wife run off with the kids. He couldn't stand the idea of the Ranch being taken over by another family. But the friendly faces in town no longer saw Ranic as the hard working rancher he wanted to be. But the Abuser that he is. With no other idea of what to do. Ranic Took the family’s savings and ran. Going town to town, taking any odd job that he could.Doing things he would end up regretting letters. He would send letters back home and sometimes money. For years instead of dealing with what he had become Ranic would wash away his thoughts with alcohol. Days, Months, Years, Towns and people started to blend together.

For years he started to get gaps in his memories, not being able to explain how or when he got into a new town. Saying the wrong name to people, and slurring his words. Getting into fights was common for him. And it became rare for him to write home. But his wakeup call finally came. During one of his nightly bar fights, he started a fight with the wrong man. A man who didn't mind taking things too far. At the end of the brawl Ranic came out with a missing eye. Despirt to get it fixed  he went to the first person who said that they could fix it. This mystery person who claimed they were using magic. Messily forced his flesh to close the hole his eye left. Ranic now looked as cruel as he acted. Forcing himself to do more and more dirty jobs.

He started to live in the same city for a few years. He started to send more money and letters to his family. He started to get letters back. It was strange at first. To know that his kids were adults now, That his Wife has with another man… a better man. He tried to not care at first. But one night he got a Letter from his daughter.
“She’s getting married…” Ranic mumbled to himself as he looked at himself in a mirror.

“No wonder I’m not invited. '' Saying those words out loud sat heavy in his mouth.

Ranic’s graying hair and scarred skin made him feel all those wasted years all at once.Every poor choice flooded to him all at once. He missed out on so much, He hardly knows when he started to get old, he just is now.

For once he didn't want to drink his feelings away. He left his small dark, messy, rented room and wandered the streets. With every step he took he imagined the life he could have had. The money he made at the ranch was hardly worth all the pain it took to make it. He traded in a happy family for just a little bit of extra gold. And yet he still ranaway from all the pain that he made. It wasn't even worth it then or now. Broken as he wandered, Reject weighed him down too much. He sat down right then in there, a random street, on a random day. Clouds came rolling in and so did the rain. But he didnt move. At least the rain was better than the feelings inside of him. People on the street passed this broken man, The rain started to drench every inch of Ranic. But so lost in thought he couldn't care.

But within the sea of passing faces dressed in gray, there was a pop of color. This stranger dressed in nearly every color noticed Ranic. Who stopped to see if he was okay. Ranic being so lost in his own head this stranger had to shake him to get his attention.

“Are you okay sir? You should be out on the streets in this weather”  This Stranger said, in a nearly perfect voice.

Ranic looked up and mumbled, “A man like mean shouldnt have any other place, I’m Fine”

The Stranger in a gentle tone  “ I’m sorry but i can't simply just let you be out here.”

“I’m no good, Better you go on your way” Ranic replied.

Clearly trying to get their way the stranger said “ You have quite the beautiful leather jacket, aren't you at least a little worried that all that Embossing could get damned in the rain?”

Ranic giving in let this stranger help him up. Not many offer to help him, even fewer notice his leathercart, may as well give in just this once.

This Stranger leads him to a temple. Ranic not a benign one to ‘waste’ time with this kind of thing couldn't help but to grumble. Soft music filled his ears, Beautiful art filled his view. The stranger helped him dry his jacket, even let him borrow some leatherworking tools to fix up the embossing that got loose in the rain. It’s been so long since he was able to have a break and just get lost in the craft. Ranic and the stranger began to talk about everything. They talked about Ranic’s art, they even talked about why Ranic feels like a low life.

As the rain started to end and Ranic was ready to leave,

he asked the stranger “Why did you even give me your time? I said I was no good, and now you know how no good am?”

The stranger said “Anyone can be redeemed and I never assume that they cannot be”

Those words felt like they could have killed Ranic on the spot. As it's been decades since he heard someone be so kind to him.

Ranic started to visit this stranger as often as he could. It wasn't long for this stranger (Ailore) to become something more. Ranic stopped taking any job he could, he started to rethink what he was doing. As harsh as he is, Ranic wanted to make a change in his life. Ranic fully surrendered to Ailore’s way. Fully determined to change, he started learning under Ailore about Shelyn. It will take time for a man like Ranic to change but he’s finally found his path to a better life.
