Sanguine

Sanguine is haunted by a past that is not his. He came into being on a decrepit spaceship manned by Douglass and commanded by a Commander Ellis. Commander Ellis was off-put by his presence, he learned from Douglass that she knew his face, from before Douglass had even arrived at the station. He was supposed to be dead.

He struggled to find his place aboard the station, terrible at speaking, still feeling like he has to learn once again to be human. Ellis was still cold to him, and Douglass desperately tried to communicate, but Sanguine didn’t really understand how to do so back.

When he arrived, the star had begun an anomalous cycle, its colors shifting, and deep, dark tendrils of shadow reaching out seemingly for him. He didn’t understand it, but something clearly wanted him, and his magic reacted each time that it did. The star would always return to normal, the group perplexed, but forced to simply live with it.

Sanguine is followed around by three creatures that manifested about the same time he did. One appears like a kettlecat, but is made of a horrible, inky substance. Douglass became convinced it was evil, but Sanguine came to enjoy the creature’s company. The other two are both Lunons, affectionately named “Seymour” and “Eyevan” by Douglass, who also becomes convinced of their evils as well.

As time passes, the station falls further apart. Some things find themselves fixed, and Sanguine is the first to sense a strange new presence on the ship. He becomes aware of Lucid for months before the Kitbull reveals itself, amused by how it sneaks about the station and does their incomplete work. Still, the station is nearly in complete disrepair, and Sanguine felt helpless alongside his crew. At this time, the star they orbit begins its anomalous

One day, a new ship appears on radar. They board the station, Douglass and Ellis recognizing them as the same company that had sent them to the station to begin with. Chaos immediately began, and Douglass was hurt, Sanguine attempting to stop it but being struck down himself. The new crew uses his chaos magic, keeping him sedated while conducting magical experiments that affected both him and the star.
