"One day at a time, Lily. One day at a time..."
An elementary school teacher who used to be a medic. In her career as a medic, she often accompanied crews of guild members, frequently including her wife, Angie, on more dangerous missions. However, in her first mission to the Titan Wall, a teammate was critically injured, and though they kept her alive long enough to return her to the capital for more intensive medical care, her life ultimately could not be saved. Traumatized by this, she ultimately quit her job and sought out new opportunities, eventually settling on teaching, this role both allowing her to stay in relative safety within the capital, and spend more time with their daughter rather than away on missions. Still, the memories of that mission haunt her, and she can't help but blame herself for the loss of her teammate. She seeks to do as much good as she can with her life, in part to atone for her failure.

Lilian had always been conflicted about her path in life. As a child, she often imagined herself taking up the careers of either of her parents- a merchant and a tailor. Yet, they didn’t seem to quite fit her. It was in part due to this lack of direction in life that she could never quite understand what her friend, Angie, saw in her that was so worthy of praise. Still, she appreciated her constant company. As her friend then went on to join the Peacemakers at the young age of 13, she was pushed once more into thinking about what she wanted to do. During this long period of exploring different paths in life, she and Angie realized their true feelings for one another, and began dating, though in truth, they may as well have already been. Eventually, she realized that, perhaps in part due to her nature as an Audino, she had a natural affinity towards healing and general medical care, and watching her girlfriend’s valiant efforts made her realize that she, too, wanted to aid others in need of help. And so, she began training as a medic.
Eventually, at 20 years old, Lily, after many bumps in the road, was finally ready to be a medic, accompanying adventuring crews on dangerous missions as an essential administrator of first aid, and staying on hand at the guild for those in need whenever she wasn’t out, despite not formally being a member. So it was that the two began going on missions together, their dream finally having come true.
The nature of her career, unsurprisingly, resulted in Lily being exposed to quite a few horrifying sights; horrible injuries sustained in duty that would each make their mark on her memory as she had to quickly work to stabilize her allies out on the field. This was only made more frequent by the fact that any mission that demanded her attendance would naturally be quite dangerous, often taking her to the Titan Wall once she had proven herself capable of making the trip. Still, this didn’t stop her life outside of her work from still continuing on. At 22 years old, she and Angie made the decision to start a family. The associated maternity leave would prove to be a much-needed respite, despite bringing its own troubles with it. Nevertheless, their daughter, Roselyn, would be born in the following year, with Lily eventually returning to her work some several months later.
Eight years later, Lily set off on a risky mission within the Titan Wall. Naturally, she was more than a little apprehensive. Though she had experience within the Titan Wall, this mission would be taking them far deeper than she had ever gone. Still, thanks to her wife’s reassurances, she took the job, and set off, leaving Angie at home to care for Rosie. Unfortunately, however, her worries would prove to be well-founded as fellow adventurer, María, was critically wounded on the mission. Lily did her best to stabilize her for the time being, but they needed to get her back to the Capital in order to treat her properly. So, the crew would rush back, carrying the wounded María with them. The next several days after arriving back home felt as though they stretched out for an eternity, with Lily staying at María’s side for as long as she could physically manage, doing everything she could, alongside the other medical staff, to find a way to save her. However, their efforts would not bear fruit. María could not be saved, and soon passed on.
No matter what Angie said, Lily couldn’t help but blame herself. Hundreds, thousands of things they could have done differently flooded through her mind, alongside worries that she had made some mistake in her rush to treat María. It didn’t take much encouragement from Angie for her to take some time off of her job. But, when it came time to return to her duties, Lily couldn’t work up the courage to do it, terrified by the prospect of it all happening again. Even were she to avoid such dangerous missions, who was to say that the same thing couldn’t still happen closer to home? With Angie’s encouragement, Lily started considering a change in career- something closer to home, and far less dangerous. On top of this, her wife offered to leave her job as a knight. Though it pained her to ask Angie to abandon the job of her dreams, the worries of what might happen to her wife as she took on greater and greater responsibilities pushed her to take that offer.
Thankfully, Lily did already have a backup career in mind- teaching. It didn’t take her long to become a full-fledged teacher, and the joy of once more having something she could passionately pursue did much to lighten her spirits, especially given that this granted her the chance to spend more time with her daughter, who had become one of her first students. Slowly, but surely, she began to heal.
Over the years, their daughter would develop an interest in becoming a knight, inspired both by Angie’s old career, and by the adventure stories she was ever so fond of reading. Though both were first opposed due to their past experiences, Angie was quick to be won over, feeling confident in their daughter’s skills. It would, of course, take some time to convince Lily, but Angie and Rosie would slowly work her down, making one very important promise: she would never go to the Titan Wall.
“My knight, or so she calls herself. More importantly, she is my beloved. She never fails to put a smile on my face, even if she does embarrass me just as much. She truly doesn’t need to show me off like that… not that I mind. I’m still not sure what drew her to me, but I’m thankful nonetheless. If it weren’t for her… well, that’s a dark road to go down.”
“She’ll always be my adorable little fawn. It’s been lonely without her in the house, but it’s all worth it whenever she comes home with stories of her new friends, or the journeys she’s been on… I just hope she’s staying safe.”
