Brgolth is a demon from a time long before man, before dragons, even before demons and angels were thought to be evil and good. It was a more peaceful time, before heaven and hell were at war. Brgolth had wandered away from Hell and into purgatory, but came across a powerful artifact: a stone that has the Power of Knowledge sealed away within it. At the time, the only unsealed power was the Power of Shape, granting magic to the world. There was a similar artifact, deep within Hell, that housed the Power of Creation, and Brgolth knew the ritual needed to unseal it. With nothing better to do, they attempted to unseal Knowledge.
They didn't quite get the ritual right, though, leaving mere cracks in its surface. But it was enough; Brgolth had gained the Power of Knowledge, in much the same way as any magic user gains the Power of Shape, or an aura user gains the Power of Might. As a consequence, Brgolth gained greater understanding of the universe, and knowledge of the seven powers. They decided to become the protector of this power, and built a library around it. Every time the Power of Knowledge taught them something new, they'd record it in a book, and after hundreds of years, the library became large and formidable.
However, there was a problem. Brgolth was getting old. Demons and Angels are immortal, but no being has a completely immortal soul. Once a soul lasts long enough, it becomes soul-weary, perpetually at risk of fading from existence entirely. And Brgolth knew this would happen to them eventually. The Power of Knowledge cursed them with an understanding of nonexistence that no other being could hope to comprehend, and they developed quite a case of thanatophobia as a result. But, Brgolth knew a way. When all 7 powers are united under one being, the God of the world is reborn. All of creation will become instantly destroyed, and all souls absorbed into its form, ready to be reborn with the coming of a new universe. Brgolth had a plan to live until then, by sealing themselves away in a tomb inside their library, in a state of perpetual sleep, only leaving when someone visits their library. And considering how big Purgatory is, that rarely happens.
But one day, Amvira and crew would arrive at Brgolth's library, and they'd tell them about the source of the 7 powers, and what it all means.
