Jason Valencia

On the Valencia beastguard but works more in the entertainment section, specifically with maintaining the diamonds and fighting in the diamonds herself.

Works at the most active and polished Valencia Diamond (a diamond that is also shared by Pyridekk and Sejnyat, since it sits on an easy crossroads for all the territories). Jason is not THE highest in the management, but definitely up there. She organizes the fight rasters, making sure they are balanced and reasonable, and serves as a referee on some fights.

Jason herself is a fighter on the Orderless League and holds a fair sized following! The orderless league being diamond fights without magic – generally the less popular league and seen as less respectable, but it has its own dedicated community nonetheless. Jason has spent much time and blood to build up this community and make a space where non-magicked fighting can be appreciated and respected. She takes great pride in her position.

Personality:

• gruff and grumpy with a short fuse. Generally loud, prone to shouting. Authoritative and passionately dedicated to whatever she has tasked herself to do.
• Apart from the ‘persona’ she puts on over fights (really just her more loud/vitriolic/confident traits exaggerated) is pretty terrible at lying – definitely an emotions on the sleeve kind of creature. Has learned to lie well enough because of her job, in order to protect her (and others’) private life from the curious ears and eyes of fans/interviewers. But outside of that context or behind closed doors she is pretty piss-poor at lying.
• A hard-ass to have as a boss. Likes things getting done and likes them getting done right – high standards. Totally a perfectionist.
• Despite this ^^^^ surprisingly forgiving if it is made clear the best effort was given/or was an accident or something. Has a three strike system tho, u fuck up thrice and ur ass is out. She takes their job and what they do very seriously and doesn’t tolerate creatures being half-assed about it.
• Has a soft spot for kids. She doesn’t ever want kids of her own, but is very protective over them, and if a kid is left in a vulnerable or cruel situation she will step in (and personally kill the creatures that put them in that situation, if applicable). She sees it as the responsibility of the community to look after and raise a kid.
• Very community driven in general. Everyone knows Jason can keep any shared vulnerabilities or secrets told to her locked up tight. She is always willing to send in a good word for someone or direct them towards someone/resources she thinks might be able to help them with whatever they’re doing.

Other/trivia

• Jason is very much actively involved and sees much of the “behind the scenes” drama and action of the diamond fights and that community. Whether it’s fighters hiding how badly beaten they were until they get offstage, or a creature crumbling under the ever-present attention and standards of their fans, or someone getting something from their personal life dragged out into the public eye, Jason sees most everything. Only the strongest, mentally and physically, can survive being an active diamond fighter.
• Likes to crochet. Specifically making micro-crochet’s of tiny beasts, she makes so so many frogs and toads. She kept the secret for a long time, not wanting it to ruin her reputation, but eventually revealed it, and now pretty much sells them for insane amounts to her fans lmfao. Uses the money to help her friends + spruce up the diamond. Also to buy more art supplies + some fancy cheeses.
• Doesn’t hold any strong loyalty to Valencia despite them being her born-clan due to her history. She simply sees them as her employers, and honestly, is rather critical/questioning of many of their actions. She doesn’t consider herself a real Valencia – and honestly avoids telling creatures that it’s her born-clan if they don’t already know.
• Is a bit of a romantic. Enjoys dramatic and/or well thought out gestures of affection.
• Really enjoys swimming and is constantly pissed that so many of the natural pools/waters of Daharus are pretty much a death sentence to swim in. Fascinated by the ocean in particular nonetheless, likes to go for walks by the beach when she can.

• is alloromantic / asexual. 

History:

• Is royal-born / Valencia-born, however has long cut ties from her parents, despite still being employed by the clan at large.
• Her parents were always disappointed in her and thought she would amount to nothing because she was orderless. Not only orderless but a ordlerless keyhorn – very uncommon. Her birth/existence was shameful for her parents, it made their royal blood look weak.
• Joined Beastguard at age 15 out of spite / to prove them wrong, and was eventually introduced to the orderless league fighters, a small but close-knit group at the time. Liking what they were doing much better than patrolling or clean-up work, she switched over entirely to work with the orderless league and entertainment section of the beastguard, and has been there ever since.
