About
Kai Dong-geun is a 60 year old scientist and is the current leader of the MAFRA company. They are the husband of Aera Gyeong-nam and adoptive father of Aito Nakamura. They are also friends with Peter Cho.
Kai is the only dog kaiju that appears in the story, and they take advantage of their alien abilities mainly with their tail, and prosthetic leg. The leg has two charges specifically made for their split tails to connect with. With this, they're potentially able to fire off strong, electrified kicks using their prosthetic, about 6,000 volts worth of electricity.
However, using these powerful kicks, or anything that involves them using a lot of electricity, drains them significantly. If Kai is too low on electricity, they go into a coma that can last for up to 3 days. However, they can recharge themselves quickly by charging their tail into a socket, similar to a phone.
Personality
As the esteemed leader of MAFRA, Kai embodies an air of authority and discipline. With unwavering professionalism, they maintain a respectful demeanor towards their employees, holding them at arm's length as colleagues, and rarely considering them as close friends. Time and efficiency are virtues that Kai upholds with utmost importance. Punctuality is their trademark, never caught lagging behind, always moving swiftly and purposefully.
However, behind this facade of strictness, Kai's true colors shine when in the presence of their loved ones and trusted friends. Far from being an icy loner, Kai reveals a softer side to those closest to them. Affectionate gestures and protectiveness become their second nature, their unwavering devotion ensuring the safety and well-being of their loved ones. And on occasion, they even let loose and embrace the joy of silliness, a reminder that age does not dampen the spirit of playfulness.
Design notes
Kai's tail can split into two, usually to either plug them into their prosthetic or sockets, or to shoot electricity out from them directly. Their eyepatch covers their left eye, and their left eye is scarred heavily. Their prosthetic is on their left leg. Kai also has a golden ring on their right hand.

Backstory
Kai wasn't meant to be an owner of MAFRA, not originally at least. During their 30's, Kai and Aera had been kidnapped by rouge MAFRA members in the past to be used as experiments. They were unwillingly transformed into a kaiju-human hybrid, and got their leg cut off in an attempt to study regeneration. Because of this, Kai retaliated against the entire company by freeing all the kaijus and killing all the staff; including their current leader at the time.
However, seeing that the facility had much better potential to be used for good, they decided to revamp the entire laboratory to be more hospitable to both the kaijus and regular humans. They also re-kickstarted the facility's proper research on the kaiju-human hybrids, and partnered with an actual medical facility to cover up MAFRA.
Two decades later, they then find Aito on the streets and decided tp take him in. While initially Kai simply wanted to leave them in an adoption center, Aera convinced them that they should adopt him instead.
Currently, despite rising tensions with MAFRA and Hitline, they live a decently content life with Aera and Aito as family. Though, the future is rather dim at the moment.
Trivia
- Kai has a 70 gallon tank with 2 turtles. They take great care of both of them, and both of their turtles are almost 20 years old(though not very large).
- Turtles are Kai's favourite animal, alongside cats and snakes; all of which aren't very well liked by Aera.
- Despite knowing that Aito gives direct spoilers for tests, Kai doesn't stop him. Unless if it's biology. Then he gets a beating.
- Their voice claims are Ray Chase or Kenjiro Tsuda.
