Merlin CANNOT use any other magic other than shadow or any form of dark magic (meaning black magic is probly fine too). He is cursed to only use one type of magic, using any other type of magic causes him extreme physical pain (Kinda like he's being electrocuted) and he is also weak to most types of magic. He's actively searching for a way to undo his curse.
