(Warning: SPOILERS!!!) Holly Marwood was born an orphan. Her father had died of a heart attack months before her birth, and her mother died of hemmorhage during childbirth due to a Pitocin complication at the hospital. She and her brother Jacob (two years her senior) were put into an orphanage, where Jacob stayed but Holly was adopted almost immediately by a woman who fostered at-risk girls and young women. At age 12, her foster mother finally told her the truth about her origins, and she set off to find her estranged brother. When the orphanage wouldn't cooperate with her, her foster sister Marilyn got a job in the kitchen and snuck notes back and forth between the two of them. Once Jacob left the orphanage for a charity boys' boarding school, they finally reunited and became close. She visited him at his college and he, along with her foster mother, helped her apply to a nursing program at University of Wisconsin. While at college, she met her future husband, Harold Hopkins, who was in the same nursing program. Eventually, Harold decided he would rather heal animals than people and became a vet instead. Holly finished her nursing program and went on to specialize in labor and delivery, partly because of the way her mother died. After she and Harold were both finished with school and had good jobs, they married and moved to a small town in Wisconsin called Snowfall Hills. When Holly was 27, she became pregnant with twins. They were born shortly after her brother, Jacob, moved to Snowfall Hills. She named them Nicholas and Noelle. She played a big hand in getting Jacob and Richard together, as well as organized the event to save Richard's business. Several years after that, she volunteered to be a surrogate mother for her brother and his husband. She became the biological mother/adopted aunt to Annabelle (named for her mother), with Richard as the biological father and Jacob as a stepdad. She lives in Snowfall Hills with her family.
