story

(Warning: SPOILERS!!!) Richard Palmetto was born and raised in Snowfall Hills, Wisconsin, to a loving family that, although not wealthy, lived comfortably. Tragically, his father died of a heart attack when he was only in high school. Richard was very shaken by this and received therapy, but he also inherited several acres of land, which he turned into a Christmas tree farm with two of his classmates, Brian Storgan and Kevin Barry. When he was eighteen and had graduated high school, the three of them opened a business where they sold flowers and plant-based products. Richard was the one who grew the plants and made all the products. He wasn't very good at the bean-counting aspect of owning a business, but Kevin was a whiz at it and they became very successful. In his late twenties, Richard became engaged to Kevin. Unfortunately, happiness and success were not in the cards for them. Brian Storgan, who had always had a thing for Richard himself, left the business in anger when he heard of Richard and Kevin's engagement, and a few days before the wedding, Richard died in a freak accident and Richard was left not only to mourn his true love, but to run the business himself. He was horrible at the business part of running a business, and over the years, Palmetto's was on the decline. Worse than that, Brian Storgan became the manager of the bank, and, still bitter about being rejected, he took advantage of his position to drive Richard into bankruptcy. He did not, however, figure on Jacob Marwood, a businessman who was doing just fine and perfectly willing to invest in Palmetto's, thus saving it from bankruptcy. However, Richard had rejected investors before, and he was at first reluctant to sign a contract with Jacob. When he rejected Jacob's suggestion a second time, unbeknownst to him or Jacob, his future sister-in-law, Holly, rallied the town to give him the money he needed to pay off the bank. By the time they presented the money to him, he had already signed a contract with Jacob and didn't need it, so they donated it to charity instead. Richard married Jacob and adopted a pair of siblings (Tommy and Kelly), and became the biological father to Annabelle (named for Jacob's mother), with his sister-in-law as the biological mother/adopted aunt and Jacob as the stepfather. They moved out of Richard's small studio on top of the store and bought a house, though they still rented the studio out to people, eventually turning it into an Airbnb. Richard lives in Snowfall Hills with his family. Profile code by sonneambedo.
